I believe guests should give some restos grace while they go through a learning curve. For me Cynthia’s is that place. Great location on the H Street corridor with lovely cozy atmosphere and seating. Went for brunch and the resto was buzzing with families, friends, and married folks like us. Our servers were friendly and attentive which we always love. I do believe Cynthia’s will figure out that they need more heating especially up front where people come in and out. I believe they’ll figure out that their waffles need to be more substantial in order to complement their fried chicken and the fried chicken can be crispy on the outside but nice and tender on the inside. And I do believe they’ll figure out that offering at least one herbal tea on their drink menu is a good idea. That said, I’ll be back to support this local eatery because I believe Cynthia’s is going to get better and better with time.

The food arrived cold and was not cooked well at all. My wife’s salad had wilted and rotten leaves in it. The food didn’t look anything like the pictures online and the service was very slow. We never got the cocktail we ordered and ended up sending both meals back to the kitchen.

We loved this place when it was Irregardless, so we decided to check out Cynthia. The Bad: the food is sadly not the same. Most of the dishes were either too salty or lacking something altogether. The Caesar salad was super bland. The fries tasted stale. The burger was so salty it was hard to eat. The Good: the service was impeccable — our server was attentive and very friendly. The person who greeted us at the door was also super engaging and inviting. The cocktails were amazing! We loved their version of a dirty martini. Overall, I would likely not come back unless the food dramatically improved. Sad to say this because we really loved the previous restaurant and want to continue to see local businesses thrive, but the food missed the mark entirely unfortunately.

The service was good and the ambiance was cute, but the food was awful. The chicken sandwich had too much bread and was fried to the point of dryness. It was cheap, but not worth it. I won't be back.

Some friends rented out the bistro for their wedding party and it was the perfect space. The party was so intimate and perfect for the celebration. The food and drinks were fantastic, I’m still dreaming about the sliders that were served. I can’t wait to come back to town and try the restaurant on a regular night. The owner was fantastic as well. Highly recommend Cynthia’s!!

Great spot with amazing bartenders and service! We only went for a drink but the whole place was warm and inviting! We even got a free dish the chef was trying out! Would love to come back to try their food menu.

We were sold by the”bottomless mimosa & bottomless bacon” which sadly we didn't partake in the bacon fest. The mimosas were great, the selection of menu items was really good, I had the special of the day which was shrimp and grits. The dish was very good, I wish there was an order of over easy or poached eggs with the dish, but it truly was delicious. We had a wonderful server named Delores and she took care of our every need promptly and professionally. We will definitely be back, the food was wonderful and the atmosphere was very inviting.

A great meal and service was enjoyed by all. Brunch standouts include the fried chicken and waffles, and any breakfast selection that includes “bottomless bacon” at a reasonable up charge. Already looking forward to the next visit. 👍🏾

Overall good experience. The omelette and fruit were the best. The chicken and waffles was ok. But overall the food and service were good, just a few occasionally annoying gnats.

Was looking forward to trying this spot, being new to DC, but we were extremely disappointed for a $160+ meal for two. The 2 espresso martinis we ordered seemed to lack flavor and seemed very watered down.
We ordered the grilled peach salad but were immediately confused by being given an avocado ranch-type dressing instead of the honey mustard vinaigrette. We were hungry and ate it but surprised by what we received because this clearly did not mix together and seemed like an obvious mistake.
We ordered the carbonara pasta and steak frites— the carbonara pasta being extremely overcooked and mushy. The steak frites plate was promised to come with an arugula salad but the plate came with a handful of arugula with nothing else on it. No dressing, no other vegetables. I had to ask 3 different people for a dressing and it took over 15 minutes until someone finally remembered. Overall thought the food and service were extremely lacking. Will not be returning.
