The Italian kitchen offers delicious and expeditious Italian food. It feels just like eating your favorite comfort food outside your home. I love the meal combo! Super accessible compared to the high prices around U street. Highly recommend it!

They serve my favorite slice on U Street. But the problem is, this place is never open. I work nearby and usually head out for lunch between 1 and 3 PM, 1 out of 3 times they're closed. When I leave work they’re closed. It's super frustrating because I’d go all the time if they just kept more consistent (or at least posted) hours. I went in today, door open, “we’re closed”. Dulccini’s is open! Bolis is open!

absolutely incredible service! we were looking for somewhere to eat after a concert, and the first three places we went were closed, and we were all kinda at the end of our patience. we were welcomed in so warmly by the staff here, they helped us with our wheelchairs and were overall just so lovely i wish i lived in DC so i could go back!! food was excellent as well. thank you so much!!! they’re open until 4am on fridays and saturdays too, and not too far of a walk from the howard theater.
The Italian Kitchen catered all of the food for our daughter’s wedding -150 guests (hors d’oeuvres and dinner). The food arrived timely and everything was delicious! If you are looking for a caterer for your next event, choose the Italian Kitchen !! You will not be disappointed.

Ordered delivery for the chicken Alfredo and a small Caesar salad. The salad came dry with no dressing. The pasta had WAY too much sauce and was like cutting into a baked ziti. Alfredo sauce was bland and under seasoned.

I have ordered from Italian Kitchen on U for lunchtime catering on several occasions and let me tell you, not once have I or my team of over 55 employees ever been disappointed. Here's a recap of an email I sent to my wonderful contact Tony:
"Hi Tony –
First, thank you for my “special” food. You saved me from having to cook dinner yet again. 😊 Second, the lunch arrived on time. YAY! Third, I dined on the steak and cheese panini. It was delicious. The bread was nice and soft, the vegetable dressing (lettuce and tomato) was fresh, the steak tender. Yum. Finally, a comment from two of my co-workers: “Erin and I agree that the Eggplant Pizza was amazing ;) Thank You!!” Others have also commented as follows: the steak and cheese are delicious; the Caesar salad is great. One even said the dressing was “out of this world”. They also love the lasagna, I concur. You and your team have been hitting it out of the ballpark consistently. Thank you. You make me look good (wink, wink). I will be in touch for future orders real soon. 😊 Trust me, you will not regret dining with them. They definitely aim to please the customers. Unfortunately, there are no pictures to share. We demolished the food before I considered leaving this review.
Vegetarian options: It is best to order directly from the store front/brick and mortar as opposed through one of the third party ordering/delivery services (you know who they are). They restaurant is very accommodating.
Dietary restrictions: They have been able to provide various dietary restriction needs from vegan, vegetarian to gluten-free.
