Quite authentic Japanese bar food, nicely decorated place. Food is quite good but expensive for the portion size ($20 for a tiny grilled sardine with no sides!). All that would still be OK if the service had not been so disappointing. The waitress was so unfriendly (borderline rude) and made us feel totally unwelcome. She was bothered by any question we had and had no time for us even if the restaurant was only half full. We were celebrating my son’s birthday but we had no chance...
Every time I go to America, I always stop by and have a nice chat while enjoying the dishes recommended by the owner, Mr. Seki. After staying for about an hour and a half, we said goodbye, promising to meet again.
This year, if the presidential election is successfully completed and the next president takes over peacefully, I hope to visit around Christmas.

This is absolutely most authentic izakaya in DC! Sashimi and Aji tataki are super great, fresh. This is just like one of good izakaya in Tokyo. Even felt nostalgic. This is now my to go Japanese restaurant in DC. Izakaya in DC are such disappointing bz of most are imitation izakaya's but this place is real one! Highly recommended!
