Shared a couple of appetizers and a couple of main dishes with bread and a bottle of wine. Was an idea spot to catch up with an out of town colleague. Fantastic food and atmosphere is always a great choice.
The restaurant was more clubby than cozy. As a couple, we didn't like being seated right in the middle of the restaurant. Menu options were limited and small portions. I expected a larger drink menu as well. The food was ok.
The food was excellent - very imaginative and tasty. I particularly enjoyed the Nirvana 37 - a tower of noodles, greens, fruit and other things. But the service was very uneven. I had to ask for someone to come over and take our order after waiting a good while after getting our water, and my friend and I waited at least 15-20 minutes for the rest of our food to come after we finished the Nirvana 37. I really dislike having a 20% service charge included when the service is not up to par. The staff was friendly and courteous, but the kitchen apparently doesn't have their timing down.
This place deteriorated since my last visit two years ago. Food had no spice. Very bland for Indian food. Price is high for the quality of food which one could easily get in another street side place. Very disappointing.
Never disappoints! Beautiful restaurant with great ambience. Food was awesome. Had the cauliflower and peas with rice. Greta value. Server (so sorry I don't remember his name) was really good and professional.
Blake and Edward were amazing wait staff. I would dine again solely based on the service level at this restaurant. The food was good and although the menu is not extensive, there’s great variety.

We went following the Michelin Bib Gourmand , and we were not impressed … Food is “ok” , the menu is unclear of what are appetizers or what are entrées , the décor / ambiance was ok but I saw some lightbulbs missing, so not a prístine ambiance , service was ok but not proactive …On the ther hand , the wine and cocktail menu seemed the only thing worth. I would only recomend for a drink , but based on my experience nothing more … I am questioning how could they have obtained a Michelin « Bib Gourmand » …. ?

Food is good. Indian cuisine with more of American feel. The ambiance is nice and the drinks are very good. Highly recommend the navigator.

Visited for restaurant week. Everything was delicious, especially the fried fish appetizer. DC has plenty of options for high end Indian food. Karma seems to be among the best, based on my one visit.

The hostess was awesome and also had to serve as the bartender due to an absence. She makes perfect cocktails! Fish curry was excellent and just spicy enough to be absolutely enjoyable with their delicious garlic naan. The Brussel sprout appetizer was undercooked and bland. Tuesday is not the full dinner menu so I had no problem getting a seat right away.

Had the restaurant week menu.
Honestly was really underwhelmed. It's too bland to be great Indian food and not as good as a generic modern restaurant. It just felt too in the middle to work well scratching either itch.
The restaurant looks like it could be any type of food if you changed the Buddha and painting to something else. Like the style was generic modern.
The service was attentive when we asked but definitely not proactive. Tacking on 20% should mean the service is excellent. It was only good.
Just don't know who the audience was and no wonder it was 20% full.

The manager was rude and dismissive, refusing a simple table change and still charging for water. I decided to let the water charge serve as my tip — the service certainly didn’t deserve more.

Every time we go to Karma, which is as often as we can, we discover something new that's wonderful.
Had Nirvana 37, lobster masala and several other dishes for a birthday dinner. Food taste and presentation were excellent and service was great. Have been here 4 times in last few years. Every experience has been better than the last. Highly recommended.

Karma is a go-to business lunch spot with the benefit of superior food and impeccable service. With its intimate atmosphere you can regale your colleagues or fete your clients without feeling like you are part of the obvious Washington hoi polloi.
