My photo says it all. This ice cream is so phenomenal that I forgot to take a photo before I devoured it! We got the cookies n cream, salted caramel and the praline, which stole the show!!! 15/10 creaminess. 15/10 flavors. Maybe the best ice cream in DC.....

Had an unfortunate experience tonight. I hope management and ownership see this and correct their staff. They have lost customers for life. Myself, best friend and her husband were visiting from out of state and will never return. we were enjoying a cocktail when we noticed a sliding door at the end of the bar, we were told by the staff that it led to a whiskey bar but was closed due to being a slow night. We witnessed staff members bringing girls back there (that never came back out) and were told we could open it and look but that there was no service. Fast forward, to when my friends husband joined us, we told him about the room and since we were given permission earlier to open the door... imagine our surprise when not one but two staff members jumped her husband when he went to slide the door open. I have never been so uncomfortable in my life. We were then told and I quote "don't open doors" by the Manager on duty who is the one who laid hands on him and yanked him back by the collar of his hoodie. As upstanding members of the community and a bar owner myself... this would be considered assault. A simple, hey it's closed please don't go in, would have been sufficient. A formal complaint will be filed with ownership.

The ice cream parlor is so cute and it's spacious inside. The ice cream tastes amazing. I got the cookie and cream milkshake (a classic of course) and it tasted phenomenal. The service was amazing. They let me try a few different flavors to see which one I liked best. It sits across from the Nationals stadium. A perfect treat after watching the home team win. Happy eating!

We typically seek out places we don't have at home and I was glad we found Kilwins. This was super close to the Navy Yard/Ballpark location in the M and our hotel. The staff were helpful and encouraged my daughter to try some ice cream flavors out instead of settling for chocolate! After tasting a few, she opted for fudge brownie. I had my eye on that caramel apple while the hubby went for a hand sized pecan caramel cluster--his favorite. My son tried their butter pecan as that is his favorite. This is a cute little place and full of character. There are lots of other items to purchase especially for Easter. Try it out!

Everyone likes candy and ice-cream...all of which tasted fine. My issue is with the operations (which is why most franchises eventually struggle as it always comes down to keeping costs as low as possible and gouging the customer). This is considered a higher-end option, where it is normal to spend $40 per pound on chocolate and $9 for a single scoop of ice-cream (again no issue with this). The issue is with how the ice-cream is served. There is a scale near the counter and upon serving the "scoop" it is thoroughly weighed as if they are serving gold or performing a medical procedures to make sure you aren't getting too much product....and it was super small; my 6 year old asked for another scoop. When i asked if that is all that you get, the server said "yes it weighs x # of ounces"... the scoop didn't even surpass the side of the cup they serve it in. If they are looking to expand operations, they need to make changes to get repeat customers. Currently an over priced and underwhelming tourist trap that is more concerned with the decoration of the store then the product they give to the customers.

Makiens service was extremely professional and as elegant as the chocolates served at Kilwins. The soft but enthusiastic phenomena his personality brings to Kilwins is nothing short of Oscar worthy and as welcoming as a smooth whiskey on a parched throat. Truly, a master of his craft. I will be returning for him.Chocolates were pretty good too

I had tickets to a Nats game and was walking the neighbourhood looking for ice cream before going into the stadium, so this place drew me in with their promise of ice cream. It was a clean store and well-situated near the stadium. But it was also empty (on a hot day, right before the game) which should have been a warning sign. There are tons of other stuff like chocolate and non-ice cream things in most of the footprint of the store, the ice cream station is at the back. I was not thrilled with any of the flavours but I had not seen ice cream anywhere else nearby and the Nats didn't seem like a team that would have dippin dots (unlike the Rockies) so I took my chances here. My two berry pie, small, ended up at almost $10. It was the dullest ice cream I had ever had taste-wise (think of water flavoured ice cream) and as I took it for a walk around the block to finish before going into the stadium, I realized why it was so bland. Most of my cup was legitimately just ice. I took some photos, there are ice chunks in my ice cream. How is ice in a two berry pie? That would be a lousy pie if ice is one of the berries. Ice ain't no berry where I come from. For $10 skip this place, their ice cream is bad and they should feel bad selling ice chunks disguised as two berry pie ice cream.

Wow, the ice cream was amazing. I had a scoop of vanilla ice cream; it was so creamy. The service was great, super friendly staff.

I love Kilwins. They have amazing sweet items. There is a variety of fudge, chocolates and other treats. This is a great place to buy gifts, especially for special occasions. It is just down the block from Navy Yard metro.

This Michigan-based chocolate and ice cream shop was a nice break from my walk. Had their cappuccino chocolate chip flavor that was creamy and just the right consistency to enjoy during DC's hot weather.

In terms of decorations and everything, it is very clean along with the fact that there are souvenir items such as chocolates, gummy bears, and candies stacked in the display cabinets when you come in. Over at the front counter near the cashier, there's the ice cream selections, and when I went on to try some of them, the sample portions are huge, and so is the ice cream portions themselves too. I got the toasted coconut and the chocolate toasted coconut, and they taste exceptional. I like the fact that the coconut chunks are crunchy, though since the portion is huge compared to other ice cream stores in the area, the ice cream tends to be a bit too sweet the more you eat it. For the price, it is a great value. 8.8/10 for the ice cream, rounded up for the service!
