I have been enjoying dining at La Tomate since it opened in 1987. It has a well deserved reputation built over decades as one of the best restaurants in Washington DC

La Tomate is not only a lovely beighborhood gem, it is also an excellent restaurant. I have been going there ever since it opened in 1987. I have had business lunches, settled disputes over dinner, celebrated special occasions, treated out of town guests to a lovely dinner experience, and gone with family and friends more times than I can remember. The quality is so consistent and the service is so attentive and friendly. It's one of my very favorite places.

We had the perfect outdoor lunch. Our server was excellent! Carrot soup was the BEST EVER! Thanks!

There is a reason this restaurant has been in business for 38 years. The food is always reliable, and never disappoints. The outside patio on Connecticut Avenue is one of the premier dining spots in Washington.

We were seated outside, but DC in the summer has a mosquito problem and the staff accommodated our request to move inside. We all had pasta dishes and you can tell they've made these for years and have perfected the preparation. We enjoyed ourselves and being a weeknight they didn't hurry us out the door either. We'll go back.

Very pleasant seating in patio with low noise level and attentive service. Dorado a bit smallish but delicious. Chicken cacciatore very special, unlike any other I have eaten and also delicious.

Great Italian food. Good service. Would go again until I exhaust the menus and then start over!

Fantastic location great last-minute option on a Thursday. The service was perfect. They were out of one of the specials, which was a disappointment. however, plenty of other delicious treats. I always recommend the Caesar is fantastic.

Dinner at La Tomate is always delicious and delightful. The menu varies with the seasons and is always both inventive and comforting. The venue is charming and relaxed, with a large outdoor patio for good weather. Highly recommended.

I was actually walking to another restaurant when I passed La Tomate. The host smiled at me through the window, and it just felt inviting. I decided to check it out. I sat at the bar and the bartender was just as nice. He recommended a great dish, catered to what I explained I was craving. I got the Ragu' Bolognese. The pasta is made in-house, so it tasted very fresh. I will definitely be stopping by here anytime I am in Dupont!

People were very nice. Good service, bread was the best thing I got honestly. Hated the raviolis without tomato sauce, seemed ubsurd in a restaurant named that. Oh well, tried it, didn't like the entree.

Loved it — the food was delicious, our server was fantastic, and I love the vibe of the dining room; it’s a quaint, cozy step away from all the energy on Connecticut Ave.
