What a lovely way to spend Thanksgiving- just the two of us🍷❣️🍷 And, yes!!!!! Everyone ordered the famous Cesar salad. Deserts were sooooo amazing you would want at least one of each and every one!
La Tomate is increasingly becoming my go to option for great food, excellent service and great atmosphere.
I had made a reservation for 8 p.m.; no tables were ready at the time, and the hostess was initially curt with us and asked us to wait on the side. After 20 minutes had passed I approached her and said we had been waiting a long time. She apologised and offered us complimentary drinks, by which time the table was ready. The meal itself was solid Italian fare, but served without Italian warmth or charm (I have lived in Italy; I know Italians). The waiter was professional but reserved, even surly. I am not sure I will be coming back.
Excellent service and meal!! Evan, Liam and Fiona provided top notch service to provide a great experience.

La Tomate is our go-to restaurant every time we go to Washington. I would almost go to Washington just to eat there, and i would go every night! The food is superb- it's fine dining in a very warm, cozy atmosphere- like going to your friend's home, who is an excellent chef! The owner is a very warm delightful person who clearly cares about every aspect of her guest's experience. Thank you for the complimentary after dinner drinks! So kind and the perfect ending to a perfect meal! I can't recommend La Tomate enough! Everyone I have sent there raved! Just go!😁
I had the frittata and would definitely order it again!

Very disappointed in this place. We had 6pm reservations as we had a 7:30 show at the generator hotel, and the place was empty when we showed up. Somehow we didn’t get our food until 7:15, despite many other tables being seated, served, and finished in between when we showed up and got our food. They clearly lost our food but made no acknowledgement whatsoever. Pasta was not very good - way too salty in the sausage, Cacio Pepe was coated in cheese which is not really how the dish should be served. Arranchini appetizer also very disappointing and way overpriced. Pretty terrible experience given the insane wait and the complete lack of acknowledgement of losing our order

Food and service were great. I had the salmon and it was perfection. The pasta is also always fresh and delicious. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.
Not very welcoming. The hostess kind of rude. Overpriced for the quality of the food

Sat upstairs and didn't really feel like we were being attended to. No one came by to ask if we wanted a second glass of wine or bottle of water. Salad ordered was never brought to table, thankfully not charged for it. It was okay but not as great as I'd hoped based on other reviews.

I love the ambiance of Le Tomate with its authentic feeling of Europe. I highly recommend enjoying the food, indoors and outdoor dining. The waiters were delightful. It was perfect and unhurried for three old friends to catch up over delicious food.'
I’m very hard to please when it comes to Italian as I make my own pasta weekly for my wife and I (odd coming from an Irish guy right?).
This place is PERFECTION. The pasta is cooked perfectly and the flavors are spot on. I’m not from here but next time I’m in DC I will be back
I have been enjoying dining at La Tomate since it opened in 1987. It has a well deserved reputation built over decades as one of the best restaurants in Washington DC
