I've been a loyal customer of Las Placitas for over two decades! I've followed them from their old location to their new location here in Navy Yard. Their food never disappoints and it's a place you can come to whine down. Don Jose is the face of the restaurant and he's one of the main reasons I always come back! I couldn't recommend this place enough

We love visiting Las Placitas, it always has a busy vibe, customer service is good. The employees are always happy and seem to enjoy being there. The food is delicious and drinks are fantastic. This place gets packed in the evenings so be prepared to wait for a seat if you come later. But it will definitely be worth the wait.
Food was excellent. Young crowd and a lot of energy. Very loud inside and a little cramped, but it was Saturday night.

This family owned and operated restaurant not only has some of the best (and most authentic from the soul) food that exists in the DMV, but it also has delivered this level of quality for 3+ decades. I'm proud to say that I grew up as a child going to this restaurant and although I don't live in DC anymore, whenever I fly into town I make at least one stop at Las Placitas for a meal. The warmth and attention to quality by this family is such a special treat to this city. Support local family businesses.

Busy Friday night but we were seated pretty quickly. Staff is really helpful and friendly, service was quick. Multiple people checking on the table which was nice. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was delicious and very filling!
I love this place. It's a nice chilled spot. The food is okay. I love their quesadillas. And the drinks are 10/10 especially the frozen margaritas it get you drunk & right! Go try them

Excellent food!! Great service!! Awesome dinner. We ordered the pitcher of margaritas during happy hour so it was a great bargain. We ordered the fresh guacamole, pupusas, Steak fajitas, chicken fajitas, and the Tex Mex fajitas (chicken, shrimp and steak), all were great!!!

Dont let this place fool you, theres very little emphasis on the Mexican and a larger influence on the El Salvadorian food.In fairness I have rarely eaten El Salvadorian food back in Texas, but the spices and heat were greatly missed and very bland.The service was well, Bad. The interaction was at politest indifferent, but it felt arrogant and annoyed. Asking if there was a hotter salsa the waiter scoffed and blamed children for bland salsa because they often eat it and get burned?Instead the waiter tossed a bottle of spicy sauce on the table ans made a super sarcastic remark “ if its not hot enough you can use this”. And that was the last time we saw the waiter at our table. Apparently however if you accept upsales and drinks you will be more attended too as my table party observed.Will I go back? No, its not Mexican Food, its mot Tex-Mex, service was not great. To quote Davi Crocket, "You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas." (Or at the very least the Mexican Restaurant next door)
