Food is really nothing special. The waffle was ok, nothing I would go out of my way for. But the terrible service (old man who has no people skills), crowded atmosphere, and deteriorating/dirty building is makes this place 1 star. Don’t bring young kids - there’s no place for your stroller or car seat. They sat 6 of us at two small tables, forcing our plates on top of one another. And prey you don’t have to go to the bathroom, unless you want to visit the creepy basement that’s falling apart. I don’t understand why people like this place. It showed up at the top of a list on a website for places to eat breakfast in DC. My mistake for not reading reviews first.

If you just looked at the outside you wouldn’t go in. Push past the door and you enter a no frills American diner with all the traditional favourites. Food is good quality and service is quick. It can be busy but the staff clean tables quickly and move any queues. Also very reasonably priced.

Luckily it was not crowded when we visited a Saturday morning. You can go inside and seat yourself. We sat at the counter and the employee quickly approached us, put in our order which came out extremely fast! The waffles taste delicious, along with the corn beef hash, grits and omelet.

Hole in the wall feel, the home fries are not seasoned, chicken wasn’t fresh, I believe my waffle wasn’t cooked thoroughly. I will give another chance and will update if improved.
I enjoyed the breakfast here. This is definitely a good place to get breakfast in downtown Washington.

The perfect breakfast for the right price, that's what I thought when I finished my meal here.
I was able to come in, sit down, and order a perfectly blank slate of a waffle ready for butter and syrup with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon. All for under $13! Amazing.
The waffle was as I described, totally a blank slate, ready for you, the artist, to paint it with butter and maple syrup. The eggs were fluffy and perfectly seasoned without any need for salt or pepper, and the bacon was crispy and full of meaty flavor.
It was a bit of a distance of a walk from my hotel, so I did end up going with an uber, but from the restaurant to the convention center was not bad at all for an after meal walk.
