The food was absolutely amazing, I had the Oxtails with Cabbage and Jollof rice and Mac and Cheese. The oxtails were slow cooked to perfection and the Cabbage was well seasoned , the Jollof rice was a little spicy (I’m not too big on spice) the Mac and cheese was okay, not the best but not the worst either. I enjoyed our waitress who was super nice and professional, it seems like it turns into and late night happy hour, this place was definitely a vibe.

I was in the mood for Caribbean food and I’m so glad I went to Lydia On H. I got the oxtails. So good! So much food I couldn’t even finish. I loved the atmosphere. The music was 90s and early 2000s R&B which is my fave. The decor is beautiful Black art. Our server, Tameka was awesome. I will definitely be back.

Great spot, and we LOVE supporting a Black owned venue. Only complaint is the drinks are a wee bit too expensive ($20 for a French 75- TIMES ARE TOO HARD for that math to math.) Otherwise great neighborhood spot.

Very lively atmosphere, portions are generous. The jerk wings are the most tender and flavorful I have had. You could have dentures and still chew this chicken. The Goat was the same.

👁️ fkn love this place cause the food is made with love and the music is always a groove. It just feels right. Everything from the old Africans and Caribbeans chopping it up on the patio at sunset to the gorgeous sun goddesses prancing around to the wide array of great music. The food is delicious and flavorful, the drinks are clever (I’m a fan of the Rum Punch and the assortment of Island drinks they invent on the board and on the fly), and the music is always a sonic vibration. Lydia On H features live music, live DJs, karaoke, poetry, painting sessions, and other bibliophile speakeasy vibes. Their book collection is copacetic. Last visit, Tiffany took care of my drinks and the service was great! Denishia was my waitress and she made sure both my dates & I had a good time! The ladies had a whole high pitched squealing session showing off their fly ass fits from DC Fashion Week. Lydia on H is a vibe ... Eye am always excited to see what they come up with next.
Update: I highly recommend this place primarily because they make everything from scratch. be patient about the food… it is worth the wait I promise! Authentic Flavorful food food (👈🏿that’s not a typo I said it twice), imaginative cocktails, and a variety of good music while u wait. The patio and hidden speakeasy are easy bonuses✊🏿🎩
Tip: I love good music! If you keep up with Lydia’s, u will catch a lot of great local & global music and comedy acts. So far I’ve seen performances from the singer Sherae, Black Alley, Future Band, Uncalled 4 Band, DJ Jahsonic, and other great artists!
