Not deserving of a michelin star. Food is nothing special, they don’t explain the plates well, didn’t give any attention to our anniversary. Very disappointing

In general good experience. I don’t understand why Metier is much better than Kinship. Things feels from different kitchens even.

Tonight was my second time dining at Metier. The first time was two years ago, and ever since that experience I have been wanting to return. The food is exceptional, of course. But the service and ambiance take it to the next level. The front of house staff are all excellent. The somm is approachable and recommended several wines to us that we loved. We felt welcome and cared for the entire time, which is extremely rare when dining out.
But back to the food. Both times they’ve acommidated my vegan restriction, which alone is impressive for a restaurant that serves a tasting menu that contains animal products in every course. However, these two meals have also been the two best meals I’ve had dining out, ever. I just can’t overstate how delicious each component of each dish is.
My partner had the regular tasting menu, and he also loved it. It is just so obvious that the chef and his staff put meticulous care into everything they do here. We loved and appreciated our experience and will dine here anytime we are in DC.

We went to Métier to celebrate a loved one's birthday. We were treated with warmth, respect, and courtesy. There were polaroid photos taken of us by the mantle, and then incorporated into a personalized booklet presented to us at the end of the meal.
The celebrated one was very touched by this gesture and I was quite impressed.
The atmosphere is an intriguing mash-up of the intimate, modern, and traditional. This seems to match the intent of the restaurant's designer, Darryl Carter.
Personally, I thought it worked beautifully. I thought it set just the right tone to match the cuisine.
The service was impeccable. Hospitable, conscientious, yet friendly. Needs were anticipated and met. The meal had a perfect pacing. The acoustics/background music were perfect for conversation and allowed us to hear our servers.
Most importantly, the food was exquisite.
Ingredients are mindfully and creatively paired. The cook on everything was wonderful. This was truly an unforgettable and decadent gastronomical journey shepherded by Chef Eric Ziebold.
I thought that it was appropriately priced as well. Yes, it's expensive, but between being a restaurant in Washington D.C. and having a Michelin star- what would one expect?
Parking: There is a paid garage a short walk away from the restaurant that with restaurant validation costs $10.
Kid-friendliness: This is not an appropriate restaurant for children.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a small, 4 person max capacity elevator that takes one down to Métier. There is a rest room on that level and though the space is cozy, there should be space for a wheelchair.

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Métier for my husband’s birthday, and the experience was a mix of extraordinary flavors and a somewhat underwhelming ambiance. Métier truly shines when it comes to their fish dishes. Each preparation was a testament to their culinary expertise, with every dish offering a unique and delightful taste. The scallops, in particular, were simply heavenly, capturing a perfect balance of flavor and texture.
Even though I’m not usually one for desserts, I found myself savoring a few bites this time around. The desserts were crafted with the same attention to detail as the main courses, providing a fitting end to such a nice meal.
However, while the food was outstanding, the overall vibe of the restaurant didn’t quite match the celebratory mood. The decor makes it look run down and it lacked the energy and elegance one might expect. It seems more suited for a casual, yet high-end dining experience rather than a memorable celebration.
On the plus side, the service was exceptional. The staff were mostly warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome. Their professionalism and friendliness significantly enhanced our dining experience.
In summary, Métier is a fantastic choice for those seeking top-notch cuisine and excellent service. It’s perfect for a refined dining experience, though it may not be the best fit for those looking to celebrate a special occasion in a lively or elegant setting. If your priority is great food, Métier will not disappoint

This was our second visit to Metier. When we first visited three years ago, everything was excellent and we were very pleased. That's why I wanted to take our guests from abroad this time. However, this visit was a complete disappointment.
Firstly, I called the venue 15 minutes before our reservation to leave a note, but an automated response indicated that the place was closed. We were very surprised and worried, so we went to the venue. Fortunately, it was open. Despite telling the receptionist at the door that we had a reservation at Metier, she seated us in the normal dining area and handed us the a la carte menu. When we told her there was a mistake and that we were there for Metier, she realized the situation and took us to the other restaurant. When making the reservation days before, the form asked if it was a special occasion which I indicated, noting it was a guest visit and I provided their names. However, during the meal, there was no special celebration or treatment as requested. The occasional treatment they asked about was not provided by them.
Even though we ordered some of the most well-known wines listed on the wine menu, each time the waiter came back saying they were not available. The quality of the meals had unfortunately declined since our last visit. In conclusion, it definitely does not deserve a Michelin Star in terms of service quality.

The ambiance was wonderful. It is a quiet and intimate space that you can enjoy one another’s company without talking over the music or background noise. For the special Valentine’s Day Experience you’re greeted with a photo at the lower entrance near the mantle of the fireplace.Once seated at the table, we were given a drink, some version of a sparkling drink or version of champagne. The huge negative, which they don’t disclose is that they charge you for those at the end.I also added on just one wine pairing that is $150 each. However, they poured us two separate glasses. I figured like some places I’ve been to, they pour half the amount, or simply just have one glass and share it. We don’t typically drink that much, plus, we don’t want to pay the extra $150 if we can help it, because we’re not big drinkers.Luckily I booked this restaurant and got the very last reservation available for this select prefixed multi course menu. I booked using my Chase portal using Tock which gave me 10X points which is always a plus. So, I paid for the reservation up front to include taxes & 23% tip.Unfortunately, with the extra wine pairing and not so complimentary drink it came out to an additional $220 for a total of $1,100.It was a good dinner and dessert with the wine. However, that ruined it a bit.Although there are 6 courses on the menu there were actually 8. One before and one at the end that were off menu. I loved the bluefin toro, and the sturgeon were probably my favorites. We still left painfully full. Some may be weary about the experience of prefixed menus and small portions. I like the variety, opposed to one large entree and calling it a day.The quality of it all was great. But to charge an unforeseen $220, it just undid everything else, it seems for me. I don’t like when business do that. Some may argue, well, we drank it so we should get charged it. Well, we didn’t finish it all because we don’t drink that much, that’s why in the reservation it asks you explicitly whether you want to add a wine pairing, and if so for how many.We now know to clarify. Because we had another dinner somewhere else with wine pairings and all 7 glasses were already on the table per seat. Giving us the perfect opportunity to remind them we only selected one and the table across did the same. The food and ambience were good and the service. The major ding was the extra charge, which isn’t chump change.

Absolutely delightful top to bottom. Flavor depth and complexity without taking that one “extra step” (that some chefs do) toward odd. This was my 48th Michelin star (not bragging just saying) and not a single course missed. Highly recommend.

I didn't really like the seating arrangements and the staff was also having a bit of a hard time getting to certain tables. The potato chips and caviar was so good I think about it all the time lol. The rest of the food was fine, we both got fish and it was well seasoned and tasty but nothing spectacular. Extensive wine list which I found to be well priced.

I took my partner there for a birthday celebration. The food, service, and atmosphere were lovely, but little was done to go out of the way to commemorate the reason we were there. We heard "Happy Birthday", but that was it. When we went to dinner for my birthday, the Italian place (another Michelin star winner) we visited went out of their way to make me feel special. I got a handwritten commemorative place setting card and happy birthday written in chocolate on my dessert plate. It wasn't much, but it meant the world to me. I wished that sentiment could have been repeated at Metier.
