Great experience, most of the food was absolutely delicious but the portions aren’t huge (as expected). The Kinship name on the door is almost undetectable, speak-easy vibes to the entrance. The service was impeccable, the decor is minimalist and not too cozy (very subjective of course). The beef tongue appetizer was as our favorite dish. Prices are pretty reasonable for the high end restaurant.
Kinship delivered an unforgettable meal— the spiced squid and veal t-bone were flavor bombs, with service so attentive it felt personal. Cozy vibe in Shaw, but book ahead; it's a gem worth the splurge.

Kinship offers great food that is definitely worth the visit, especially for friends and family. The desserts are amazing. The restaurant might need better air conditioning and parking can be a challenge since it's in DC. The staff is thoughtful and helpful in choosing dishes. The asparagus salad was a standout dish with unique flavors. It's a perfect spot for a special occasion, with outstanding wines, appetizers like squid and mushrooms, main courses including roast chicken and scallops, and delicious desserts such as rhubarb pie and opera cake. The signature roast chicken is infused with lemon garlic butter under the skin, which is a challenge with chicken but was well executed. Many guests have praised the sashimi, which features multiple flavors that explode in the mouth, and the scallops, which are perfectly cooked and melt in the mouth. The ambiance is understated and minimalist, creating a calm dining atmosphere. Service is often top-notch, with attentive staff, including a standout waiter from Kenya. However, parking can be difficult, and the no corkage policy has been a concern for some customers.
