Food was delicious. The sheer audacity to have a sit down restaurant where the customer is expected to wait on themselves is mind boggling. Then to ask for a tip. It takes brass balls. Can't believe they get away with it. First time in my life I've left a Yelp review. I just can't believe asking the consumer to pay retail and expect them to serve themselves. It's insane. I certainly will never go back. Whoever came up with this concept should be scourged publicly and put out of the city gates.

Bartender has a horrible attitude. I asked for a menu and he points "they're over there " I understand maybe it's not his job, but just a little less rude when you talk to customers.

Came here during the weekend so it was pretty much dead… you have to order at the bar and a decent selection of beers. I would recommend coming at another

Really awful people work here. It’s like just full of people who are real salty. And do not ask them about the donuts! The donuts are a consideration only for the donut shop people. If you happen to ask about the donuts that the donut shop makes that the beer hall is named for, they will not like this.

It's a pretty okay place. Ordered their signature burger, but it was not what I was expecting based on the regular's opinions towards the food. Buns were soggy and fries are not the best.

I've come here a few times for Alumni events, and the service (if you can call it that) is just barely mediocre. It takes a while to get a drink at the bar, and even longer to get a second one. Pro tip: serve yourself water at the many water stations around the bar (this may be an admission of the slow service). The food offered is typical bar fare, but they also have donuts. The donuts are very good, but not sure they go well with beer (in my opinion). They say business strategy isn't what your company does, but rather what your firm chooses not to do; maybe skip the beer and lean into donuts. At a recent event I attended at this location, I noted a smell of sewage or something foul in the basement part of the bar. At first, I thought someone had farted, but then I kept smelling it every 15-30 seconds. I hope that gets fixed, but I won't be back to find out.It seems management does not know when the bar will be busy; the staffing levels seem to support my thesis. Friday night happy hour might be a good time to get more folks behind the bar. The bartender in the basement section seemed to be a part time bartender and part time donut baker - which was probably why the service could be measured in geologic time.Of note, the Shirlington location has equally poor service; just no sewage smell. In short, I'd avoid this place and go to literally anywhere else.

I have gone here for countless corporate events in my short time here in DC. It’s a favorite for event planners it seems. But god, is the service awful. Just the worst service you can imagine. This might be just related to their event staff, as I only come here for random corporate happy hours, but if you’re an event planner in DC, please pick a different venue! This place hires the rudest employees in the DMV area.

My sister took me to Astro for lunch and I was surprised by the food quality. I've been to the other Astro in VA and every donut they served was made to order unlike this DC location. I was surprised, when I ordered the donut, that they do not have any equipment to heat the donut. They gave me a room temperature donut. When I order the crème brûlée donut from District Doughnuts they use a torch to heat up the donut. My mistaken for thinking I was going to get the same level of service. The fried chicken sandwich on a cheddar biscuit was awesome. The chicken wings were undercooked. One thing I must say is that the staff was accommodating and polite.

My company sponsored a corporate event here back in October. I worked with a person by the name of Ryan Hoehne. Ryan was awesome to work with! The event from planning to execution was fantastic. The food was setup and the ease of getting our drinks was excellent. We allowed staff to also order from the menu and the wait staff was wonderful as well. The overall atmosphere of Astro was really cool. Our staff enjoyed playing pool and watching a game on TV. Everyone had a great time and expressed that we should come back for another event! I highly recommend.

Good bar for post-work happy hours, but just be prepared that the busier they get the ruder the bartenders get.
