We were the only people in the entire restaurant. Melvin is terrific, but I can't see how they can remain open. Oh, and the mouse that scurried across the floor was unsettling.

Don't go for the excellent roses because apparently they lost their liquor license so no wine or alcohol was available - and no indication that was the case when we made this reservation. There were hardly any people eating there, which was why it was easy to make a reservation. The staff was attentive and kind and the food was as good as it always is. But the staff had nothing to do but serve us and one other table, so the people in the kitchen closed early (no dessert possible). At the end of our meal, we literally saw mice running across the floor. This place used to be a favorite. Seems like it won't be long before it closes.

Great setting and staff. Currently it’s a BYOB as they don’t have their liquor license.

Really enjoyed our dinner at Macon bistro. They await a new liquor license, but no worries, we brought our own wine. Food was very good. We had mussels, salmon, and shrimp dishes - all very good! Plus salads and appetizers. Very much enjoyed it. Atmosphere was intimate, quiet, and lovely.

Pretty tasty. Appetizers took a while to get there, and the fried green tomatoes were a little tough. Biscuits were delicious as always, and hush puppies were good. My tuna nicoise was mostly well done, but the tuna was a little tough and stringy. Plus, they somehow hadn't renewed their alcohol license, so they were dry, which is odd for a bistro that prominently features a bar. Seemed par for the course at Macon, which has had some major service issues. But overall it was a better experience than others we've had there in the last 5-7 years.

I made a 7:45 reservation and we were told we needed to order as the kitchen was closing at 8 pm. That the chef had an emergency. I was surprised but no problem, we ordered. Our food came quickly and at 8:15 we were told we would need to pay and leave by 8:30. We were seated outside and said we would pay but that it was unacceptable to ask us to leave right after getting our food. The waiter said we had to leave because the dishwasher was also leaving at 8:30. I asked to speak to a manager and the waiter said the manager wasn't there. I completely understand that emergencies happen but that I would be allowed to order and then shooed away is unacceptable. If I was told the timeline before I ordered I would have gone elsewhere. I think Macon is on its last legs. There were only a few tables seated and it seemed like staff wanted to leave early. Again, I understand that things happen but for everyone to have an emergency and need to leave is fishy.

We were there for Sunday brunch. The restaurant was not at all crowded and yet they did not seem to have enough help. Poached eggs overcooked; French fries soggy. Disappointing.

Food great, as usual. Quiet because we were seated outside. Servers very accommodating as we changed seats to avoid rain.

We had not eaten at Macon in a couple years and were delighted with our dinner there. Left us regretting that we had not been back before then! Not a wrong note anywhere in the evening. We will not be long in returning.

Nice, varied menu for lunch. Pleasant setting and vibe. Can be very noisy but at lunch is comfortable.

Great ambiance, service, and food in a pre-movie dinner for three. Great hot soup on a night of exceptional winter chill. Three different seafood entrees for three different diners, all excellent. Efficient, friendly, non-obsequious service that knew how to time things, so all was done before time to leave for the movie house. Bustling, cosmopolitan, but polite, non-noisy crowd provided stimulating dining backdrop.

The food was good, the service was terrible. We were rushed into an order, it took a long time for a drink (a beer) to arrive. We ordered two courses and they brought out everything at once. We were never offered a second beverage or a dessert menu. Before we finished our food they gave us the bill and turned off the lights outside and turned up the lights inside. If you're going to be open for your stated hours of operation then be open. Otherwise change your hours of operation or don't open at all. Either way, I would not recommend and I will not return.

Great local restaurant but good for the entire DMV. Great French and Southern dishes. Nice service which is low-key but there when one needs it.

The war on bread continues unabated in America. They did not bring us any bread. I had to ask for it and it took forever to deliver. Other than that. Macon is a charming little bistro on Connecticut Avenue and a good addition to the stretch that is kind of suffering right now because there's only a couple of restaurants the Greek one and the other one- their staff is not very well trained. They're really packing the tables are crammed and you are eavesdropping on your neighbors. They should lose a couple of tables. It's not about the tables. It's about filling up the place daily and offering good product. Wish them well- not impressed. Soggy fries.
