I have gone to Maison for drinks a couple of times and have absolutely loved it. I’ve had fantastic service, even if I am standing, and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I was so excited to finally get a dinner reservation but was unfortunately disappointed with the service. Our waitress was nice, but starting 30 minutes into our reservation she told us we needed to order the rest of the food (we had ordered appetizers and cocktails) because she had a table coming in and needed to turn our table. Mind you, we had a reservation, which we were on time for. The environment in the back dining room is cozy and definitely invites you to take your time and savor the experience. But, we were told of our time limit twice more. It was neither in my reservation confirmation or reminder texts that I had to be out of there so quickly. I understand restaurants have reservations that they need to get to, but I did feel like it could have been handled better so we could have felt like we had time to enjoy our meal. It really just took away from the experience completely. Furthermore, after cocktails we ordered a bottle of wine, and the wine was taken away with a half a glass left in it. I told our waitress and she gave each of is a splash of the bottle they were using for glasses, but it just felt like it was evidence of them rushing us out. Lastly, a friend of mine was vegetarian and got their vegetarian option of the pasta, which was mushrooms instead of rabbit. It was great. However, they still charged the same amount and weren’t super helpful there either. Again, I love Maison for drinks but I was very disappointed in the service for dining.

Overpriced as hell. The service is great! Unfortunately the place and the patrons are super pretentious (typical DC suit and tie crowd). They have only a couple natural wines on there by the glass menu. 55$ for 2 glasses of wine is insane.

They don’t have a DJ or any music. It’s more the ambience for if you want to discuss politics or the economic state of the world.

First off, the food is AMAZING. If I was reviewing the food, it’d be 5 stars for sure. I also had one of the best cocktails of my life (cafe tropical). We just did not have a good experience with the service.

This is a pretty nice place and the first thing I noticed as soon when we got there was that the entire wait staff was dressed in extremely casual clothes, to the point that every guest in the restaurant was dressed nicer than every member of the staff. We found that pretty off putting for such a nice place.

Our server was very inattentive and did not provide any support for ordering food. The food here is very expensive and there is no inclination to portion sizes on the menu (no small/large plate section) so we were assuming that if we ordered a couple plates for the table it would be enough food. Spoiled alert it was not. Now I’m am upset about expensive food for small portion sizes, but I wouldn’t include that in the actual review because the food was so good that it can be justified in this situation. I am upset thought that the server saw us order clearly not enough food and didn’t say anything. Usually at a restaurant like this the server would say something along the lines of “I’d recommend 2-3 plates a person” but we got none of that here.

We were also sat at a high top bar, which is not an issue typically, but the chairs were SO UNCOMFORTABLE. They were the bar stools with like a 4 inch back, so it was just digging into my spine whenever I’d try to lean back. Just wanted to put that out there (only reason the atmosphere wasn’t 5/5 stars, the restaurant is very cute).

This was an amazing dinner. The dishes were creative and tasted amazing.
The chicken with brioche and Parmesan cheese was delicious. The desserts (especially the chocolate ganache) were heavenly. Will definitely be back.

One of the best french dinners we’ve had in a long time. Shout out to Thomas who was our server. We went for my wife’s birthday and had a great time. Highly recommend the lamb tartare and the brioche stuffed chicken

I had an excellent experience and selection of cocktails at MBV.

I made a reservation for 2 at 9 PM on Saturday night, and a resi has been hard to come by for weeks. Rest assured, it’s worth it and limited due to the space within - it’s small and intimate which I prefer.

I had the “Am I the Drama” and am literally trying to call back to get the ingredients bc I want to replicate this at my home bar.

Drinks range from $18-24 however I found the pours leaning toward the generous side, cocktail orders receive a sidecart from any shaker-excess (something Idk why isn’t more common).

My friend ordered the house martini and it was excellent. No notes. Get your booty in a seat and go have one!

Lastly, the dessert. The Profiteroles have a special place in my heart/mind/body/soul. Mother of God, MBV did their big one with this dessert. I want to go with more friends just bc everyone should experience this dessert.

From front-to-BOH, I was amazed and impressed by MBV - you will see me back. It’s my pleasure to be writing this review.

Until next time!

Good food, great ambience and the bartenders were terrific. We were at the bar here on a Saturday night and the place was full but not packed. All the food options were good, especially the tuna Crudo and chicken breast. Special shout out to the two bartenders, Thomas and (I think) Chris!

Welcome addition to the neighborhood. Super cozy and buzzy spaces (bar area especially can get a bit loud) with a great wine and spirits list and an interesting and innovative take on French cuisine. Maybe more of the classics are coming, but for now few dishes on the menu were anything we recognized as typical French bistro fare, but that departure was also refreshing. We’ll be back (if we can get a table… that wasn’t an easy thing to do for a Saturday night at 7 PM). Good for them!

We were truly disappointed as we really like the other restaurants of the same group (Lutece, Pascual and Lapis). The service was subpar - the person who took our order was rude and gave the Gen Z stare. The wait staff brought food that was meant for different tables twice. The entire service absolutely did not deserve the 20% default tip, which we would have never given had there been an option. The food was nothing extraordinary (we only liked the bread). The general ambiance of the main floor felt inauthentic (I only liked the bathroom) and it was extremely loud. We left as quickly as we could and are sure not to come back.

Wonderful French restaurant with excellent ambiance. We started with the olives and bread. Don’t pass up the bread and butter! I enjoyed a delicious dish of pasta with grated truffles and a glass of wine. The bar was a great place to dine, as tables are at a minimum. Fun spot to watch the bartender make drinks all night!

Maison is by far the best restaurant in DC. The space is intimate, elegant and beautiful. The staff are knowledgeable & friendly without being too obtrusive. The specialty drinks are well crafted and my gin martini had the most delicious & unique tasting blue cheese olive (was that truffle oil in there too?) their wine selection is quite good. The food is AMAZING. The menu seems to change but you can’t go wrong… at least that was our experience. The lamb tartar was outstanding as was the tuna crudo and the pasta. And even though the bread & butter plate is $8 do not skip it! Portions were more than generous but not overwhelming. Cannot recommend this place enough!
