I ordered a lunch special combo of wings and shrimp, but unfortunately, the food was cooked in old grease. Both items came out with a burnt coating rather than the golden brown crisp you’d expect. Considering I placed my order right at opening, I would have appreciated being told the kitchen wasn’t fully ready yet instead of feeling like corners were cut, almost like it was a rushed cooking competition.
On a positive note, the customer service was excellent—friendly and attentive, which I truly appreciated.

I ordered today via DoorDash. I had 3 wings fried Mac and cheese and greens the Mac and cheese and greens were good but my chicken wings were cooked in old burnt grease which didn’t sit well with my stomach 😩

My favorite, nearby, ramen place was closed, so I dropped in on mama Tee's for lamb chops, collard greens, gravy mash, and corn bread. Everything fell pretty solidly in either the category of good or very good. Staff was super friendly and ambience was laid back and cozy.

The reviews led me here, and the experience is gonna keep Me here. From the salivating smell from the street to the welcoming atmosphere to the down home southern cooking. And the fact it’s family owned and operated lets you know theres a llevel of “umph” in every bite.
The sweet tea , the cake, omg . I had the lump crab cake , greens , potato salad and Mac n cheese THIS TIME, everything hit harder than Katrina. Will deflee be back for more.. thank you Mama Tee, Crystal n Mr Smith. First time I felt like I could call DC my new home. 🫶🏽 This place deserves every star.
