About Menya Hosaki

Menya Hosaki is a renowned ramen restaurant that offers an exceptional dining experience for both meat-eaters and vegetarians. The menu boasts a small but mighty selection, including shoyu, tonkotsu, tantan ramen, and Onomichi ramen. The tonkotsu and shoyu ramen are 100% authentic Japanese style, with a rich, flavorful, and slightly sticky broth and fantastic, springy noodles that are beautifully balanced.

The restaurant's vegan and vegetarian ramen options are particularly impressive, with a rich, creamy almond milk-based broth. The chicken karaage is crispy, juicy, tender, and generously portioned, making it a must-try.

Menya Hosaki is widely regarded as one of the best ramen spots in the DC area, with some calling it the best ramen in the world. The restaurant's interior is small but cozy. While the popularity can mean a wait, the line moves quickly and the food is absolutely worth it. Arriving 15 minutes before opening is recommended to avoid a long wait.

The service is delightful, with incredibly friendly, kind, and welcoming staff. Guests can expect fairly priced, amazing Japanese food that leaves them eager to return. A must-visit for ramen enthusiasts.

Chicken kaarage was the star, battered nicely and crisped to perfection. The yuzu mayo was bright and creamy and paired perfectly with the chicken. The spicy ramen was ok, I ordered extra mushroom and thought the noodles were well cooked. The broth was very rich but felt like it was lacking some acidity to cut through the fattiness. We got in line around 4 pm on a Friday and were the second party to be seated, and the line started to grow quickly around 4:30

If you’re planning your first visit to this ramen spot, I recommend going on a quiet weekday evening to avoid long waits. The host is incredibly friendly and accommodating, which sets a great tone for your experience.

I tried the classic shio ramen, a limited-run menu item, and found the broth flavorful with a good balance of toppings and protein for the price. My friend enjoyed the triple threat dish and praised it highly. While my protein was tender and well-cooked,...read full review

We were impressed. Our son tolda us it was the best broth he had ever tried, and they did not disappoint. We had the karaage as an entree, and spicy tonkotsu, spicy tantan, and tori paitan. All very good. Tantan was my favorite.
