Open Table booked our reservation but we found the restaurant closed up for a Saturday evening. The place looks charming and I'm disappointed by the failed communication between OT and the business.

I’ve actually been here twice and here’s the review from when I went there the first time!Went with my bestie after I got my first paycheck! It’s a really cute, vintage, and dainty little eastern european restaurant hidden on the side of Connecticut avenue. Most waiters seems to be Russian. When we went it was pretty slow, but the restaurant started to fill up very fast as we were about to leave. What we ordered ?- Borscht 4.5/5 Very huge portion, you need to share or else you’ll be full just with this soup.- Lamb Shank 4/5 again, big. You can barely taste the lamb, the texture of the lamb was also perfect.- Napoleon 5.5/5 First, it’s a HUGE dessert. And it’s definitely the best napoleon cake I had so far. I will return to this restaurant no joke just for the cake.Vibe ✨ 10/10 LOVE the vintage interiorI give Mari Vanna 8/10

Heard that they were closing their DC location by the end of the month so decided to enjoy it one last time. We’ve visited this locale a few times and each time we came we marveled at their culture and distinct flavors, tastes, moods, the interactions. There always is an air of mystery to the staff working there. The hostesses always are icy and perfectly primped. Secretive glances here and there and lots of whispering add to the mystique of the Russian vibe. The food has always been good, a bit on the heavy side. But what’s special of this place is the house infused vodka. They add just the right amount of kick needed for the food coma you’ll be in.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in DC! The food is amazing (e.g., roasted duck, classic beet and cabbage soup, honey cake). The atmosphere and interior decoration is impeccable. The service is also really great. Highly recommended!

Overall terrible experience. Encountered rude service upon arrival and was rushed out of the restaurant with no warning (the check was left at our table while we were still eating our main course). They really seem to not care now they're closing.

Really cozy home-like feel and decor. Just like sitting at Babochka's. Food was good cocktails were pricey but good. Unfortunately we learned their lease was not renewed and they will close Jan 31, 2024. ?

Chic idyllic restaurant transporting you back to Soviet era memorabilia in the bathrooms and good authentic Russian food, that’s not too heavy or large. The cocktail menu is very redolent of all things Russia from terms like Peter The Great to Crime and PunishmentVegetarian options: Not too much vegetarian but some items.

We were a party of 8 and dined here. The atmosphere was enchanting, creating a cozy and nostalgic ambiance. However, our dining experience was marred by the prolonged wait for our food. While the dishes were satisfactory, the extended wait time somewhat overshadowed the overall enjoyment of the evening.

We went in as a party of 3 and after an hour and 45 minutes they did not bring our main dishes and then did not even apologize for the delay while tables of parties that came after us got served. The worst service ever and the manager is really bad, horrible and does not care about customers

Had a wonderful meal here with my family. Looking at the menu , I wanted to order every appetizer there. I had to settle for three of them , the grilled artichoke salad , the mushroom barley soup and the khachapuri which is a wonderful melted feta and mozzarella on bread. I need to go back again to try all the herring dishes next time. For entrees we had the beef stroganoff and the chicken Kiev. Both of these were wonderful. I would have them again and again. For dessert we had the syrneki which was like cheese blintzes and the cherry vyreneki which was like cherry filled pirogies both were excellent. We really liked the Russian tea service in the tall glasses The service was great. Our waiter was around any time we needed him but was not omnipresent. The decor of the place was wonderful, we loved all the antiques and Knick-knacks all over and the signs written in the Cyrillic alphabet all over. If you have any problem walking up stairs tell them before you go because most of the rooms are up 2 or 3 flights of stairs. I can't wait to return.
