Went here on a whim and I’m so glad I did! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was excellent! I had a smoothie which was very fresh and rejuvenating, the veggie Japanese curry which was very flavorful and filling, and an Ethiopian peanut coffee which was incredibly tasty. Sometimes when restaurants try to combine cuisines the results can feel forced or like you’re getting odd versions of food that don’t make sense but everything here felt very thoughtfully put together and personal and came together beautifully. They also have a little shop which had Japanese and Ethiopian snacks, ingredients, and alcohol including some fun items I haven’t seen elsewhere in the DMV. Finally one of the owners was there and made my food and drinks and she was so nice and welcoming. Highly recommend stopping by and I’ll be back with friends to continue exploring the menu!

I highly recommend Mita ethio Japanese cafe. It’s the best family owned restaurant in dc area. The Sambusa’s are amazing. Also the Gyudon Japanese Style Beef and Ethio Veggie Platter. You’ve got to come it’s the best.

This place was absolutely wonderful!! I tried so many different dishes and they were all excellent, the service was very fast and both the women on staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. They even allowed us to have a free sample of some sushi when their sushi chef arrived for the day! I will definitely be returning very soon :)

Mita Cafe is one of a kind! The sambusas, Ethiopian tea, and gyudon absolutely hit the spot. The owner was very kind as well - the store sells a variety of fun products for a good price. Cultural fusion is what makes America so unique, and this is no exception.

This spot is spectacular! The service, the quality, the experience is a must see. Food was spectacular and incredibly fresh. I wish I could have ordered nine more things but just ordering a few was more than enough for my friend and me. Definitely come check out this gem on Kennedy Street!
