Efficient service and a comfortable setting made it easy to relax and enjoy our meal. Ideal for both business lunches and casual firm events.
Both crab dip and fried green tomato appetizers were tasty. My wife had the crab cake entree, and I had the meatloaf. The crab cake was delicious - the meatloaf had a bacon - horseradish glaze that was a bit overpowering but was still very good. The service was on point. I would definitely return.
Loved everything about our Breakfast at Old Ebbitt Grill. It wasn't cheap, but it was a great experience for the family to eat and explore the area.
We had a lovely meal and the server and chef were very attentive to my dietary restrictions!
I Loved The Food. The Appetizers Were Very Good. Freid Zucchini Chips Were a Hit And The Calamari Was Good As Well Actually Found It Pretty Cool They Fried Bannana peppers with it. The Fried Trout was Crazy Good Packed Flavor and Was Fresh AS hell. i loved it
There was a wait for a table for two, but we were encouraged to try one of 4 bars and order a meal from there. It worked great!
Great place for groups!
Lovely historic building. Really over crowded with wait for table. Food very mediocre, like low end chain restaurant. Prices were too high for the quality, more for the location. Hard to get the server's attention for ice tea refill or the bill. Don't bother to go here.
Definitely will be recommending this place to all others in the future. It is an enormous restaurant that is still best to have reservations. My wife and I were walk in and the wait was 45min-1hr or find a seat at one of the four bars. We found a couple seats at the bar and received wonderful and quick service. Definitely big on seafood, so that's what we got. The oysters and calamari ended up being our favorite. One disappointment was the old fashioned, flavor seemed off and no cherry to accompany the orange peel.
Absolutely fantastic. Be sure to have reservations.

Really crowded for a Monday
Classic dc. A spot to go if you’re new to town or just visiting.
Stepping into Old Ebbitt Grill is like stepping back in time, and what a magnificent experience it is! The rich history of this iconic DC establishment permeates every corner, creating an atmosphere that's both elegant and inviting. But it's not just the history that shines here; the food is truly exceptional. We were blown away by the amazing pasta and the perfectly cooked steaks—each dish was a testament to their culinary expertise.
What truly sets Old Ebbitt Grill apart, especially for DC, is the affordable price point for such high-quality dining. It's a rare gem where you can enjoy a fantastic meal without breaking the bank. And speaking of gems, our bartender, Alex, was an absolute star. He mixed up some of the best cocktails we've had in a long time, expertly crafting each drink with a friendly demeanor that made our evening even more enjoyable. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in DC, look no further than Old Ebbitt Grill—and be sure to say hello to Alex!
A little expensive, but the food is amazing! And the service is really great. I highly recommend it! Not a single course was less than excellent.
Being totally honest - it feels like a 5 star restaurant, but the food just isn't mind blowing. We all got seafood and it was fine, but wasn't as flavorful as I've have throughout this week at neighboring restaurants in DC. That said, the staff are to be celebrated for their fantastic customer service. It is also a bit odd in seating - due to popularity the restaurant expands into what seems to previously have been the atrium of the office building above. We sat in an open room where we could see up into the offices above. Not bad, but just very different from the rest of the restaurant inside.
We also did a reservation, which I HIGHLY recommend.
