Good restaurant with the right vibes however even though the food is well prepared and presented the portions are small and the prices were steep. Therefore I cannot rate it higher on this.

Great establishment for brunch with excellent service and food!

The staff members at this restaurant were very professional and helpful. The level of service offered was noteworthy, from the manager to the server to the staff from the kitchen that delivered our food. A big thank you to the entire team for delivering a seamless and consistent great experience.

The food was delicious. The eggs benedict were made perfectly and the taste was on point. The smash burger was a solid burger cooked and seasoned to perfection. The only critique I have is that the fries that accompanied the burger could’ve been served better — I found that the temperature of the fries were a little on the colder end and not as crispy as I was expecting. The seasoning was good, however!

The best part of the meal was the dessert — the tiramisu and the key lime pie. Both were delicious and definitely worth the order.

Overall a great experience both in terms of service and food. Would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for somewhere to visit in the area! Hoping to return for dinner some time soon!

We hosted our daughter’s bridal shower at Opal DC. The experience from the planning stage to the day of the event was absolutely awesome! The attention to detail that the Teodora displayed was so helpful. She answered every question promptly and efficiently.

The day of the event, Sean (manager) was amazing. He greeted us very graciously and assisted in preparing the space for the party. Sean continued to make sure all of our needs were met.

The service was impeccable! The food was delicious. The portions were huge and the presentation was beautiful! Our guests raved about their brunch and service!

We cannot say enough about our experience with Opal DC! Top notch for sure!

We came here for lunch and really enjoyed our meal. The three course brunch/lunch option is a great way to taste a little bit of a lot. The oysters are actually cooked and come out very warm- but delicious! The key lime pie was the highlight of the meal & the smoked salmon sandwich was good was well. The music in the restaurant didn’t seem to fit the vibes- could have done with some jazz or anything other than pop music. Overall we really enjoyed our time. If you’re looking to avoid the crowds in Georgetown and have an affordable tasty meal, this is a good spot in Chevy Chase.

Rating- 3.5 stars!

I went to Opal with a group for brunch. It had a very nice and relaxing ambiance! The staff was very welcoming and I really appreciated our server who worked to make sure we were all happy with our orders.

For myself, I decided to do the 3 course brunch. I started off with the Cucumber + Mezcal cocktail which included spicy mezcal. I loved it! It was refreshing, but the spice also hit you. It was fun!
I next had the shrimp and polenta for my first course which was tasty. For my main I had the orange fried chicken and waffles. It was good--just good. Lastly, I had the Tiramisu for dessert.

I ended up giving the 3.5 rating because our dishes were hit or miss amongst the group. Some were great and a few sent back. I still recommend Opal if you're looking for a brunch within the Chevy Chase area. Maybe the day we went was an off day!

Super cute place with ample parking. Service was fantastic, very attentive, with a bubbly staff. Food was delicious, we opted for the three course brunch for $32 per person. We also did the bottomless drinks option for $16 per person, which I would skip in the future. The bottomless Drinks option (Margaritas) is a premix and definitely not boozy. I ended up having 4! and normally I barely make it through 1.5 margaritas. ‍

9/10 - Shrimp Polenta
10/10 - Smoked Salmon Toast
8/10 - Louisiana Eggs Benedict
7/10 - Key Lime Pie (Very Rich)
7/10 - Tiramisu (Very Rich)
2/10 - Ultimate Margarita (good flavor, no tequila)

Number 1. Parking was not terrible to find on Connecticut Avenue. For reference I went on Saturday for brunch. Number 2. It is absolutely beautiful on the outside and the inside. The curb appeal is unmatched. Number 3. (I started writing this way, so I might as well continue LOL) the food was good. I did not love the mushroom omelette or the Louisiana Omelette, but the top hits were banana pancakes, smash burger, oysters, and the chicken and waffles. I would recommend the soft serve with the glaze on the side, if you don’t love balsamic glaze. The Tiramisu was very yummy. I was disappointed each dish wasn’t knocked out of the park. We (5 of us) did the bottomless brunch and the bottomless drinks. Very affordable. Drinks were delicious. I loved the margarita. Now, the reason I took another star, number 4. The service was frustrating. The kitchen and bar were backed up the entire time we were there. Our server was nice and did the best she could, but she seemed very busy and backed up and we only saw one bartender. We finished our apps before our first round of drinks came and continued. We realized we had to order our next round once we received the other drinks. We had 4-5 rounds of drinks as a table. The slowness was a huge turnoff, but I hope they normally run with at least 2 bartenders during brunch on a Saturday. At the very least maybe a barback that can make the service bar drinks to alleviate some of that delay for the seated guests. That’s all I got. Not sure if I’d return.

A little upscale while also having a relaxed, neighborhood vibe. Perfect place to meet friends for dinner and sit at the bar or a table. Menu is all seasonal with ample appetizer and shareable plates and some high quality mains. Extensive drink menu too. Absolutely will go back!

A lovely place, the host was professional and very kind. The ambience was wonderful with a lovely deck. Tables were only available inside and it turned out so noisy we were even unable to communicate with the host, letalone betwee us, so we left, disappointed of missing such a promising place because of an ubearable noise level.

So if you have really read my reviews, you know that I am a service Lead reviewer. I really enjoyed the multitasking of the service from the general manager, Sean and the staff as the collaborative efforts in the hotel to serve the guest to keep the service at a high standard, and the teamwork that they displayed throughout the entire time was amazing!!!!

Actually went for brunch, which I took my mom for Mother’s Day And we had a great time. So if you’re looking for a place for brunch that has great food options a mixture of seafood meats brunch favorites this is the spot for you.

I will save the banana pancakes and the oysters with the tequila chili amazing. They actually grill them Which makes amazing taste for a brunch menu.

Now I will say if you read my reviews, I’m always big about people making recommendations about what drinks are great for your pairing. But the unlimited drink menu that you can add to the brunch was a fave.

So if you have friends or family in town, I would definitely recommend Opal. Enjoy your visit.

FYI: the tiramisu is a dining experience with the addition on the side. Order and explore. Won’t be disappointed.
