My wife and I booked a reservation here for Valentine’s Day as we were staying at the hotel. When we booked, there was no mention of a smaller, limited menu for Valentine’s Day. The whole dining experience took almost 3 hours (6-9pm), with very slow service. The main courses were really good but the appetizers and deserts were underwhelming. That coupled with the extremely slow service made a $300 dinner bill seem totally not worth it in our opinion.

If you value your hard earned money and time do not waste your energy going to this restaurant. I received the most horrendous service last night during their Valentine’s Day special. My dinner started at 7PM and it took roughly 3.5 hours for them to serve us 4 courses. Often having to aggressively ask the waiters to bring us our next course. The staff seemed very disorganized, chaotically running around trying to figure out which table ordered what. At one point the lights literally turned off and back on to the brightest setting!!!!! Many people left after not even being greeted once seated for over 20 minutes without any explanation. Several people loudly announced to the restaurant that this was the worst service they had ever experienced before departing. All of the patrons were talking to one another loudly complaining about how long they had been here waiting for the food they had ordered. It was something out of a movie truly….completely unacceptable unimaginable service, almost so terrible it was funny. 0/10 experience

Service was terrible! I can't give a review on the food because I was not greeted at my table and after 15 minutes pf waiting... I got up and left.

I do not write reviews but had to this time. Just a total s-show of incompetence. We had to get up from our seats and ask 3-4 times for absolutely everything - drink menu, silverware, each course, the check, everything. Wow what a disaster this place is. All of the other customers were also up in arms. One other guy stood up and shouted. Our steak was overcooked on one side like someone had forgotten to flip it over. Wow wow wow. Other food was meh.

This was the absolute worst Valentine's Day dinner I’ve ever had! We live in Phoenix and googled a good location and we ended up here…..royally disappointed! The service was HORRIBLE!!! People left before even eating as some weren’t welcomed or served in any kind of timely manner. TERRIBLE!!!!

Food was average. Nothing special for the price. Flavor wasn’t great. Pastries are average. Very small for $6 each. Service was so slow. Overall wouldn’t go back. $165 for 4 people for breakfast.

Feeling the need to warn people about this place. I ordered a mocktail because I can’t drink (and I repeated the order twice to the waiter so he understood me)… and lo and behold brought me a cocktail (with alcohol). Thank god I noticed after a few sips and asked the waiter - he was like “oh, whoops, sorry” then put in the new order for the mocktail. I probably don’t need to tell anyone why this is REALLY bad… if someone is sober, has an alcohol allergy, pregnant, on antibiotics, etc, and they order a non-alcoholic drink and unknowingly get served alcohol… serious problems can occur.

Other issues:
-After getting the drink wrong, it took about 15-20 mins for the mocktail to arrive.
-The oysters were bad - like inedible bad.

The meatballs and fries were pretty good though and the ambiance was nice. But I just cannot get over the fact that they served an alcoholic beverage to a person who specifically asked for a non-alcoholic one.

Opaline Bar and Brasserie embodies the archetype of a classic hotel restaurant, yet it falls short in both flavor and practicality. The prices are exorbitantly high, for breakfast, a simply fruit plate costed over $12.

The staff often appears disoriented, moving about the restaurant with an air of uncertainty as if they are unsure of their roles or the flow of service. This disconnect adds to the sense of chaos, detracting from what should be a seamless dining experience.

As for the food, it is regrettably unremarkable. The dishes overwhelmingly lack depth of flavor and come across as overly greasy, leaving diners dissatisfied. While the setting attempts to create a pleasant atmosphere, it ultimately fails to elevate the overall experience, making Opaline Bar and Brasserie feel like a secondary option for hotel guests rather than a standout dining destination.

Disappointing. Has a cafeteria vibe. Lacadaisical service. Bill had extra items we didn't order. Food was ok but nothing special. Bill included automatic 18% gratuity. Won't be back

We had such a great time during our stay at the Sofitel Hotel! We visited Opaline multiple times, and each visit was a delight. The atmosphere is so relaxing and enjoyable. Plus, the bartender is super friendly, which made our experience even better!

So... to begin, we start our dinner with the cheeseboard. Nothing wahoo just 2 cheeses and 1 slice of Prosciutto and some chorizo. Good, but not worth $25

My main dish was the steak frite, who was pretty good to be honest but very disappointed by the sauce because there is no sauce with the steak except ketchup... for a dish at $51, you can add a sauce, I think... Especially when on the menu, you wrote "cognac peppercorn sauce"

My wife took the carbanara, who was extremely small and with no flavour, didn't even finish. Clearly, the pasta deserves to have some salt and pepper...

I was going to try the macaron but they were not made in house so I went for the flan parisien and it was the WORST flan of my life.
He had a grainy texture, no flavour, way overcook. Not to be an asshole but I'm French and a pastry chef, and this tastes like a water brick.

The vibe of the restaurant: It's not very cosy, even kind of cold, especially because the lights are not powerful enough and it makes all the restaurants very dark

Last words, don't go there !

What a fabulous experience. We came over here for dinner. The food was exceptional. Including the vegetarian food I ordered. My cocktail and my friend’s wine was amazing. The service was phenomenal.

What I loved was that our server didn’t try to upsell anything to us. Nalaka D was our server. He helped us order the exact amount we wanted to eat. And didn’t try to get us to order the most expensive dishes on the menu. My friend wanted a recommendation between the most expensive and something less expensive and he actually recommended the less expensive coz he said it’s their specialty and he won’t get it anywhere else. It was so refreshing to not have service that was just focused on getting us to order a lot of expensive food. Same for dessert. We weren’t sure if we could eat 2 desserts. We were deciding with him and he said he could always get us another dessert later if we wanted it.

Highly recommend this restaurant.

We were skeptical when we walked in. It's not a very fancy looking place but the food and service were great. Lobster bisque was awesome and the truffle fries are amazing. Salmon dish was perfectly cooked. I would definitely go again!
