Food and drinks were exquisite! Waitress was well rounded on offerings and very attentive, she spoken to us in a very respectful and kind manner. Overall food and desserts were delicious. The reason for 3 stars is the hostess who seated us, considering we had reservations initially gave us a table in the very back where all the wait staff stood around - not acceptable. I requested we move to the 2nd to last table in that same row but then they started clustering all of the patrons around us and omitted seating anyone in the front of the restaurant - give people some space so they can enjoy their food and aren’t clustered up. Next time I come, I’ll be sure to request a solo corner table.

Pappe Indian Cuisine in DC was just okay for a quick appetizer stop around dinner time. The place was fairly busy, but we snagged a table without much wait. The modern decor is clean and inoffensive, though it doesn’t exactly scream “Indian restaurant.”
Service was mediocre—our server was polite enough but slow to check in, and we had to flag someone down for water. The coffee I ordered with the apps was very average: weak, barely warm, and instantly forgettable.
The appetizers were the real letdown. Everything lacked flavor—the samosas were bland and dough-heavy, the chili chicken was greasy without any real spice kick, and even the chutneys felt flat. Nothing made us want to come back for a full meal.
It’s fine if you’re nearby and hungry, but Pappe didn’t impress. Plenty of better Indian options in the city. ⭐⭐½

Great service at the bar! The food was generally very good. The only miss was the butter chicken which was a tad thin and not very rich.

I’ll be brief!
Service: I was seated right away, even though the place was packed. They got me a table without a reservation, which I really appreciate. The people at the reception were super nice. The waiter was helpful and nice too.
Speed: Getting the food took a loooooong time. Probably 20 min after ordering.
Food: the entree was great. The appetizers (all three of them) were meh - not worth the money at all.
Atmosphere: really nice. That’s why I give it 4 stars instead of 3.

Pappe has a 5/5 happy hour. The butter chicken and garlic naan is the best I’ve had and the price point is impossible to beat.
Had to change our reservation last minute and floor manager was very accommodating. Easily split our check. Would definitely recommend.

Nice decor and service. Butter chicken was bland with small portions and wasn't worth the price.

Pappe delivers some of the best Indian food in D.C. The flavors are rich and authentic, and you can tell it’s the real deal when you see how many Indian diners choose to eat here. The atmosphere is warm and modern—perfect for bringing guests or enjoying a nice night out. I’ve been to Rasika several times, but honestly, Pappe is better in both taste and overall experience. Highly recommended!

I had lunch here on a weekend. Lovely ambience and decor, yummy food and great service. I had the vegetable samosas as appetizer. For entree, i had the Naan basket and lamb curry. Super happy with everything. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good Indian restaurant.

What an ultimate experience in DC this time. I usually travel a lot and like to eat different ethnic cuisine, but this one was worth it. Ordered Chicken Tikka masala, along with palak paneer and Chicken pista korma.
For vegetarian folks, try the Gobi Manchurian and daal makhani. Its to die for. Overall a 10 put of 5 experience.
Thank you chef and the staff members for making this a memorable night for me and my friends visiting DC first time. It was worth it!!!
Will be visiting soon again.

Absolutely loved every dish we had! Pista Korma and Briyani were standouts, along with the chai espresso martini.

Based on some of the reviews I was slightly skeptical but very surprised. We are in a Sunday night and they honor happy hour in the dining room as well. We had a variety of dishes that were honestly delicious. Service was friendly and not “in your face” nor were we rushed - we took our time. I’d be happy to go back there again. Booth was a little tight/uncomfy but otherwise very good!

Pappe on 14th Street is hands down one of the best Indian spots in DC. The place has a fun, vibrant vibe with colorful fabrics and exposed brick, and the food really delivers.
The vegetable samosas and tandoori cauliflower are perfect starters, and the spicy chicken tikka is smoky, bold, and full of flavor. For mains, the butter chicken is rich and comforting, while the shrimp coconut curry is creamy and unforgettable. Don’t skip the naan—especially the green chili version—and definitely save room for dessert, like the chai crème brûlée or cardamom ice cream.
The cocktails are just as creative as the food, and the whole experience feels lively without being pretentious. If you’re into bold flavors and great atmosphere, Pappe should be on your list.
