Could there please be one sandwich on the menu that doesn’t have a mayo-based sauce? Everything is premade so you can’t substitute either
I got a mozzarella chicken sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in months! It was condensed, warm, and delicious, and kept me impressively fueled for 6-7 hours of walking and museum going! The price was also good, at around $10-$15 for the sandwich, which was well worth it. They also had a lot of drink options and dessert options. They looked really good, but I didn’t get a chance to try them.

Terrible service and terrible matcha. Would never get again. Tasted it and threw it in the trash. Would not recommend for anyone. TERRIBLE PLACE

We enjoyed this little hidden oasis nestled between our nation's institutional buildings and museums. It was a welcomed resting spot to enjoy some good food and escape the heat. We had walked several miles around the Mall and my octogenarian mother really needed a break. Lots of light and open feel. I bought a turkey sandwich which was fresh and tasty, and even bought one to go for a friend. Recommended!!!

Asked for Americano, got lukewarm espresso. Paid premium price for it. No vegan option

Tried this place to avoid the predatory food trucks, but wasn’t any better…
-1 paper straws that fall apart
-1 can’t opt out of condiments on the sandwiches
-1 no flavor choice for the chips, despite a basket of “premium” choices next to the register that makes it seem like you do before ordering
- 1 “fountain drink” without an actual fountain, and no refills
Cafeteria style, order your food and pick it up when ready. Beautiful venue with indoor and outdoor seating. Menu is limited but varied with sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads and pastry. Beer, wine and soft drinks available. Casual and low key for snacks for museum visitors, not a stand alone dining destination. Popular with tourists on the Mall.

This oasis was a lovely respite from the heat of the day. We had fresh fruit cups, yogurt parfait, iced coffees and iced teas.

All around a 5/5!! The pavilion cafe is so cute and makes the perfect place to eat on your way to museums. In my opinion this is a TRUE cafe. They have breakfast pastries & parfaits, lunch sandwiches & little pizzas, and desserts!!! The cafe is very cute and spacious with lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. The food was reasonable priced! I loved this place and would definitely recommend the Pavilion Cafe. ☕️💕

I recently stopped by the Pavilion Café at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, and I’d say it’s a cool spot overall.
Ambience & Setting
The first thing that stands out is the setting. You’re right in the Sculpture Garden, with big glass windows and plenty of natural light, so even if you’re inside, you still feel like you’re outdoors. It’s calm, not overly crowded, and a nice break from the busy Mall area. Definitely a peaceful place to recharge in the middle of a museum day.
Food & Options
Menu-wise, it’s not a huge selection—so don’t expect dozens of choices—but what they have is solid. I tried one of the sandwiches, and it was fresh and put together well. They also have salads, flatbreads, and a few drinks, including coffee and some alcoholic options if you want to take it easy and enjoy the view.
Service
Service was smooth and friendly. Ordering was quick, and I didn’t feel like I had to wait around too long, which is nice when you’re just looking for a casual meal in between museum visits.
Value
The prices are about what you’d expect for a museum café—nothing too crazy, not super cheap either. Considering the location and atmosphere, I’d say it’s worth it.
Final Word
Overall, Pavilion Café is a nice little stop if you want a calm place with decent food in the middle of DC’s busy museum scene. Not a ton of variety, but what they do, they do pretty well. I’d go back for the setting alone.

got a strawberry smoothie and it was just pure liquid, wasn’t even good. i got an eclair and it was surprisingly good, great size for $5.
when i went to pay, i paid with apple pay. i was about to tip and this worker grabbed the thing from me! glared at me, then asked “were you done?” AFTER she took it, i said “not yet, did it go through, i was going to tip” she said “u weren’t done or?” then proceeded to say “nevermind..” then clicked one of the tip options. my boyfriend and i just looked at each other, that was the RUDEST thing ever, to tip yourself and take the scanner away from me??? wow. then she gave it to the other customer. didn’t say anything to me afterwards, no thank you, your all set, have a good one, and no receipt, nothing. i just walked away because i didn’t care at that point terrible service
