Why eat at the dirty food trucks when you can have good food at the Pavilion Cafe? It serves sandwiches and salads, is clean and air conditioned, prices are reasonable, lots of tables and chairs inside and outside. The employees are well trained, polite, and keep the place very clean. The best place to eat on the National Mall by far.

Vegetarian options: You can get a fresh salad
This place was crowded but still calm on a sunny Sunday. Lots of sandwiches, quiches and small pizzas. Relatively affordable compared to other museum cafés.
You can eat inside or outside, both with views of fountains or the sculpture garden.
Was an excellent oasis of A/C on a very hot summer day. And the food was good.

We needed a place to retreat from the very hot summer sun and grab some food. The only gripe I had was they were out of the cobb salad. So I & the kids had the Montreal Beef. Sandwiches were good sized but came with just plain Lays chips. My wife had the Couscous salad.

The staff moved quickly through people so while there was a line to the door, we didn't...
