Primrose is truly a neighborhood gem in Brookland. The vegetarian options are outstanding—they really know how to make veggies shine. The kids menu is thoughtful and makes dining out as a family so easy. And the wine list? Impeccable. We’ve never had a bad pick. It continues to be our go-to spot, and we feel lucky to have such a special place right in the neighborhood.

A cool setting but it doesn’t deliver on substance. Patio is great but mosquito filled, the wine list is hip at the expense of being good and the food was ok.

1 slice of French toast - $17. 2 eggs with cheese - $10. 1/2 slice French toast (kids portion) - $9.

Good service and beautiful place, but very overpriced.

The food was good but the menu extremely limited (only three large plates) and seemed overpriced compared to what you would get in downtown. The wine list was small and a little too “unique” for my taste and some seemed to be white labels, but I appreciate having Virginia wines on offer. Service was fine but uneven (a glass of wine ordered with the entree arrived after the entree was finished, while a bottle ordered at the same time came immediately). Wish the enclosed patio had some form of ventilation.

This is our neighborhood spot, and I could not be more grateful to Sebastian and his team. Without fail, we have spectacular meals EVERY time we eat at Primrose.

Recently (early July 2025) had one of the best dishes ever , the oyster mushroom risotto - was spectacular, and it easily ranked top 5 of my life.

We regularly dine with our 14 month old , and it is such a welcoming atmosphere. I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced a place that offers such fine dining , yet caters and is so accepting of children.

This is THE place for date night and you don’t need a babysitter because the menu and the atmosphere is welcoming of the littles.

And the on tap iteration of the French 75 has been my go to drink for years!

Vive la Primrose !

The food is very good, the staff are so friendly, but it’s the ambience you go for. The restaurant is adorable. It’s not quite downtown prices but still feels slightly overpriced. $17 for one waffle…

I did go here and the best thing. I can say that I could find parking easily on a Saturday afternoon, but this place closes right around lunchtime and because I don't live in the neighborhood. I did not know that. So I had people meet me there. Around quarter of 2 only to have someone a part of the management staff. Come out and say, oh we close at 2 o'clock, did not say we reopened at 5, just that we close at 2. And so I had to, you know, apologize as we laughed standing outside thinking, okay, where do we go now? I may still visit this restaurant because it's a local place and I try to support local businesses. And maybe I'll rewrite something afterwatds.

This restaurant is 💯. Yes, it's pricey for the neighborhood. The Nouveau Franco-American cross cuisine is *chef's kiss* 👩🏽‍🍳😘 bien. The owner/managers, Sébastian and Erin, are very kind and welcoming. It is worth the trip to Brookland NE if you're a NW dweller.

The food was SO GOOD. I know that the steak is the star in this plate, but the greens were so well seasoned and tasty that they almost stole the scene. Cozy atmosphere and gentle staff. Great experience, overall.
