This Cathedral Heights Japanese restaurant will not disappoint. They have an extensive, diverse menu, and all of it is scrumptious. We started with the butterfly shrimp appetizer. The delicate, lightly fried juicy shrimp had a savory sauce which packed a zesty punch. For my main, I had the grilled ribeye steak. This perfectly cooked ribeye was accompanied by tasty brussels sprouts and pan-seared asparagus all tied together with a creamy and zesty wasabi sauce. My wife and son had a variety of sushi offerings, and they enjoyed every memorable bite. Service was friendly and attentive. Great choice if you are looking for a high quality asian meal.

This week, during happy hour, my wife and child had a deeply disappointing experience at Raku. They sat outside for nearly 20 minutes with no acknowledgment from staff, while two other customers who arrived later in the same area were served immediately.
This complete disregard is either a troubling lapse in professionalism or something more serious, and either way, it’s unacceptable. Such treatment should not happen anywhere, especially in 2025. Sharing this so other potential customers can make informed decisions.

I love Raku! Come here, order a drink, eat some fish (I love their Chirashi), chat with a loved one or some friends (or both), etc. 🐟💖

The place was near the National cathedral, very convenient. The place was not crowded during lunch time on a Sunday. The service was good. We tried the katzu and tofu skin roll.

Super delicious rolls and tempura. The miso cod was divine. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion size of the meals.

Worst service I have had in a long time, also my wife got food poisoning.

The restaurant wasn’t busy, and yet the service was minimal—the suggested drink was like non-sweet wine, an unremarkable liquid that neither complemented the meal nor stood on its own merit. Unfortunately, this underwhelming beverage set the tone for the entire experience.

To put it bluntly: this restaurant is a masterclass in mediocrity. Our server tried, but only came across as incredibly unconcerned with our wellbeing.
