Well, first the obvious. It’s not Japanese food. They’re Chinese. Lived in 日本. Ordered Shoyo ramen. Not good. Bland and tasteless. Gyoza was also tasteless and rushed so the dough wasn’t really cooked. Water was tap and counter was sticky from previous patrons. Service was good but that is about all. I get why people who’ve never had real Japanese food eat here. I’ll sum it up with: fake. Kinda like the city. ?♂️

Diverted here for my birthday lunch as I was planning on going nearby but once I saw Rakuya, I NEEDED IT! I'm so glad we did, the food was delicious and the servers were attentive but not overly so. It was a busy Friday lunch so it was PACKED. The vibe feels authentic (we lived on Okinawa for 3 years) but the tables were SO CLOSE TOGETHER that I felt like I was trying to scooch by down an airplane aisle which also meant that it was so easy to hear the neighbors' conversations.

Ramen is delicious!!The server is attentiveThe place is popular. It’s recommended to visit around 5pm right when they begin their evening hours. The pork rib is amazing! The spicy toro sushi roll tastes great! We have a great tonight :)
The Tonkotsu Ramen was very solid. Not the best I have had in the area, but I definitely appreciated how the broth wasn't too salty. Friendly and efficient service, and the price was very reasonable.

Stopped in on a rainy day during a work trip to DC, and I'm so glad I did! I originally came in looking for ramen (which I heard was really good here), but the deluxe bento box caught my eye. It was fantastic! Everything was incredibly tasty, other than the tempura shrimp and vegetables. But I don't like tempura in general, so I can't judge that fairly. Overall excellent flavors and beautiful presentation. Will definitely return.

I loved this place. Went there after walking and sightseeing museums and cherry blossoms. The food is really good and fresh. I ordered the gyozas and miso soup for entrees, and the Seoul roll. I wish the roll was a little bigger however I felt satisfied. Do yourself a favor and order the strawberry blossom lemonade, it’s DELICIOUS and si refreshing, perfect for summer too. The prices are also reasonable. Would definitely go back to try the ramen’s.

One of my favourite restaurants at DuPont circle. Ramen was rich, sushi was succulent. Can not fault the warm and prompt service. Eating at the bar, I had a blast watching the army of undocumented Lat-Am cooks prep the food. Who needs Japanese chefs, I guess? Don't care as long as the food is good.
Great weekday happy hour - but get there early, it ends at 6! $4-12 small plates, $6-11 rolls, reasonably priced drinks. Full menu is very extensive. Indoor, covered patio & fully outdoor seating!

The bowl size is deceiving, it is the smallest bowl of ramen I have had in DC… the soup flavor is very basic. The worst part is the grilled chicken which we asked for to replace the pork, dry, no flavor, and overcooked. Will not return.

A casual Japanese restaurant that would've everything if the service wasn't so horrible. We had to ask for chopsticks, and we never got our drinks and appetizers after asking numerous times. No one ever asked if everything was ok, and when the waiter finally came, it was to give us the check we didn't ask for. Was our go-to spot, and we wont be back. Disappointing.
