Visiting on 8/13, service was not great. I spend about $80, got 6 tacos and two drinks, including tips. The steak tacos were a bit dry. Out of all the places we visited, this was the least ones.

As tourists we really liked our burittos and tacos, very tasty and finally something healthy!

Since the new owners, this restaurant has changed a lot. And perhaps not for the better, unfortunately. Be prepared to pay via venmo for food and by card for alcohol. Very odd. Likely won’t be coming back.

I called this place to see if they were taking orders on the phone. When I got there they took so long to even consider taking my order and then they tell me they are out of things and only had a certain selection than what I came for.

As others have said, it seems like something is currently off with this location. When we went, we were immediately greeted by a staff member who said they only have 4 types of tacos (all the toppings were the same, just different proteins) and two types of beers. We were hungry so we agreed to stay. Food took a long time to come out since only one chef was working the kitchen (and we were the 2nd group in there). Two of our orders were wrong but we were hungry and figured there was something up with the restaurant. At this point we also noticed the other group was setting up a hookah, which was unexpected. At the end of the order we went to pay, and THAT is when they told us it was cash or cash-app only. When we gave the staff our cash, he didn't have enough change. So I had to figure out downloading cash app to pay the chef. While he did comp us a couple beers for not having better payment, it was still a little frustrating. It seems like some of the management has quit and the folks that are still working there are just trying to stay afloat.

Hours were off. They opened 2 hours late on a Saturday. As soon as you walk in, nobody greets you. They expect you to know to seat yourself. There were only 2 other parties of 2 (a total of 6 guests) and the wait time for food was approximately 20-30 minutes. My husband asked for extra onions and it took them about 30 minutes to get that. Families with children would walk in and out when they realized people were smoking hookah inside. The menu isn’t “kid friendly.” Menu was VERY limited and didn’t match their online menu at all. 10/10 don’t recommend. The food wasn’t great and the service wasn’t friendly at all. Doors don’t close completely so it was VERY cold.

Let’s start with the positive. Some guy, I’m unsure of his role, took over and was attentive to us by taking our drink orders and telling the bartender what we wanted. And the cook, she did her thing because those tacos were hitting but without her, this place was a circus.1. The “bartender” is bouncing around between the three tables downstairs ignoring ours.2. 20 mins later, this same bartender took our food order because we basically waved him down. They only had chicken, beef, fish, or pork tacos as options. We placed our order and asked if we could put in our drink order with him and he said let him put in the food order first (he never comes back)3.The unknown guy, mentioned above, comes to take our drink order. About 20 mins later, the bartender brings us our drinks4.Once we get our food, we’re told that we can only pay in cash or via cashapp & that the food bill is different from the bar bill5.Fast forward to the end of the night, we pay for the tacos (which end up being $5 per taco) since the kitchen and bar are separate and the guy at the bar tries to charge us again for the food and the drinksSomething about this place is off and all the confusion and lack of items on the menu has me questioning a whole lot about this establishment.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday and it was such a good time! They offer a great bottomless mimosas deal, 2 bottles of champagne for $40 and they bring you a pitcher of orange juice. They also offer hookah that wasn't priced too bad considering it's U St but we chose not to purchase any. I ordered the chicken tacos which were pretty good. I believe this place is perfect if you don't want to do your traditional brunch food and want a good vibe. Service was also great and everyone who greeted us were very welcoming.

This is the cutest taco restaurant ever! We came here a little after 10 on a Friday evening and you have to be 21+ to get in after a certain time. The inside has a dj, but outside is nice if you just want to sit with friends and talk. My margarita was okay, but my birria tacos were super bomb! This street is definitely high volume so I would highly suggest walking if you live within walking distance. Other than that, good luck trying to find a near park within a few blocks.

Hmmm I just visited this place on Sunday afternoon,I will say it's a cute restaurant the vibe seemed to be nice when first arriving,so when I first got there the bouncer asked for my Covid card and Id cool no issue there just wanted to point it out that dc restaurants are requiring ppl to show proof of vaccinations. My friend and I sat at the bar because the tables were full and the place is pretty small, the dj was awesome 5 stars ,it took a while to be serviced but I know the bartender was pretty busy so we were patient,we ended up ordering 4 chicken tacos and the house margaritas, the tacos were just ok I have had better tacos. It seems as though the bartender had forgot about our drink order which was kinda weird to me,we ordered the drinks first before the food lol...if u are a hookah smoker that could be ordered as well,I met a nice young lady at the bar really cool super chill. I give this place 2 stars because the food was just ok not something I would want to order again and it was kinda pricey for just average tacos. Not sure if I would come back

Customer service, quality food.

I honestly want this place to win. The bartenders are always good and the food is OK. This place loses 1star for being haphazard and the bar "Manager" Jay needs to go, is at dude is awful.

Food truck experience, stale/leftovers were served and bad. I contacted Rebel Taco and left feedback but haven't heard back.

Were visiting from California and were right next door to Mexico. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor and super tasty tacos they serve at this spot being out this far from the border. What a find in DC. Jay, the manager/ owner even made a visit and introduced himself to ensure everything was good with our visit. We totally enjoyed the cool breeze on the patio and warm friendly atmosphere from the staff at Rebel Tacos Cantina. We had the Macho Nachos, Birria tacos, Al Pastor, and the Rebel pollo fajitas and a pitcher of margaritas. If youre ever out in DC, and looking for a fun atmosphere, this is the place to be for tacos and cocktails! See you here!

A cool hipster location on U Street. The ambiance is why I gave them a 4 star. The food is definitely 3 or 3 1/2. If you are out and about on U street and want to food and drinks, this is a great place to consider. You order directly at your table from your phone and it comes right out! The fish Taco was pretty good, and the Birria taco was tasty but the consume definitely lacks flavor. I always have to add sauce to it. I always get the spicy Margarita! It's my favorite and it delicious!
