A perfect experience for our anniversary. It's a great space, bustling but not loud. Our waiter was terrific: friendly and confident in his knowledge of the menu. The food was delicious in very large portions. We loved the shrimp appetizer, sea bass was excellent, as were the lamb shanks. $185 for dinner for two, including two cocktails. And very nice that they provided two glasses of complimentary champagne because it was our anniversary. We will definitely come back.
Absolutely amazing dining experience - as a Persian who normally only trusts the cooking of my Mom, I was extremely pleasantly surprised and came back twice in 4 days just to experience it again
This is the second time I have visited Rumi's and took some out of town friends. Every time the food is on point and I leave extremely satisfied with my dining selection. This time we had cocktails which were delicious and our duck entree was cooked to perfection. Thanks for another great night!
Best Persian in DC. Excellent in food quality, portions, presentation, service, atmosphere, & music. My personal favorite is the lamb kabobs. I love coming here and I recommend it to anyone.
Excellent food in a nice setting, but we were rushed by our server. We went to celebrate a birthday, but in the end, it was a subpar experience because we didn't get to fully enjoy the food and the experience. Not recommended for a date.
I recently visited this Rumi's Kitchen in D.C and was genuinely impressed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was truly the highlight. We tried Soltani ( barg and koobideh kebab) and saffron chicken both were tender, flavorful, and served with perfectly fluffy basmati rice. The fresh herbs, mast-o-khiar (yogurt with cucumber), and warm bread made it all even better. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Don't skip the Persian tea and baklava and persian ice cream sandwiches at the end the perfect sweet finish. Overall, a wonderful spot for anyone wanting to explore or reconnect with Persian cuisine. We'll definitely be back.
The food is phenomenal and service is on point. Iranians nationwide know Rumi's is one of, if not the best, Persian restaurants.
We were a little disappointed about our experience at Rumi. We made a reservation for dinner, but were given a table right at the entrance of the restaurant where diners were waiting to be seated, while diners without reservations were taken to tables inside the restaurant where the dining experience would have been more pleasant. My husband ordered chicken dish, which was delicious, but my dish, a beef stew, was not of the standard I expected, and left me bloated and with cramps, and feeling unwell and with gastro symptoms during the night. Our service was excellent and the ambience of the restaurant could have been great if we had been given a table that allowed for a pleasant dining experience.
A True Taste of Persia – Absolutely Outstanding! From the moment you step into this Persian gem, you're welcomed with warm hospitality. We ordered the Chenjeh with Albaloo polo and Soltani kebob, and both were exceptional. The meals were rich, perfectly tangy, and filled with tender chunks of beef that melted in my mouth. The kabob was juicy, and perfectly marinated, served with fragrant saffron rice that was fluffy. What truly sets this place apart is the attention to authenticity and quality. Service was attentive and kind without being overbearing, and the staff clearly take pride in both the food and the culture they're sharing. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, this restaurant is a must-visit.
Absolutely delicious! From drinks and appetizers to the main feast (literally a feast of a main dish), it was all fabulous. Highly recommend this place
Restaurantji Recommends
I was a little disappointed in the tahdig and lamb kabob. Tahdig tasted like it wasn't freshly made, lamb kabob didn't taste like much.. very bland actually. But everything else was wonderful.
So delicious!! Recommend sharing with your table in order to try a lot! Falafel was the best I ever had!!
great service quick and fast food was delicious and the drinks was great we will definitely be back
Absolutely incredible food! The smoked eggplant is a highlight. The mushroom and lamb hummus are also incredible. The service is stellar. For dinner service, they really pack in the tables and the restaurant almost feels claustrophobic. We also had to wait almost 15 minutes for our reservation because the table we were being sat at would not leave. It's reasonable to ask a table to wrap up after their allotted time and if another table is waiting but it seems the restaurant didn't do this. They didn't offer apologies or any remedy for the delay in turning tables. The lack of consideration put a damper on the experience. I'm not sure if I will be back anytime soon.
This was a delightful experience for 2 long-time restaurant efficianados. The food was abundant and flavorful. Two delicious starters, grilled eggplant dip (so creamy!) and dolmades (fresh and warm) served with warm lavash nearly filled us. We shared an entree of yogurt marinaded sirloin which was exceptionally tender and delicious. The rice pilaf was packed with green beans and meat and had a hint of cinnamon. We had enough rice for two leftover portions. Two people can easily share an entree. The service was excellent! Our server made great suggestions (including to share a “feast” (the entree). Bread/lavash and drink refills were attentive. We were so full we didn't explore the desert menu. But we will be back.
