Creative, well-presented menu of both cocktails and food. The drinks are especially good - twists on classic drinks. A standout is the Paloma with a dash of Serrano pepper.

I don’t like leaving one-star reviews, but the bartender seemed like he was purposefully neglecting us. He took our drink order and vanished for fifteen minutes and never brought our drinks after reappearing. We were sitting right in front of him while he chatted with everyone else at the bar and poured their water. We left.

I’ve been to Serenata multiple times and have always enjoyed my visits. The drinks are consistently great — creative, flavorful, and well-crafted. However, I have to say that the last time I visited, my experience took a turn for the worse.
We approached the bar to order drinks, only to be met with an extremely rude bartender. She responded in a very aggressive manner, informing us that they were closed for a private event. While we completely understood and had no issue respecting their private party, her attitude was uncalled for and frankly, quite off-putting. Her demeanor overshadowed what has otherwise been a positive experience at Serenata.
It’s worth noting that if the service isn’t welcoming, the main draw — great cocktails — loses its appeal. The atmosphere, while lively, still has a bit of a mall-food-court feel, which doesn’t quite match the quality of drinks or service you’d hope for at a reputable spot in DC. Given the many excellent cocktail bars in the city, I’m hesitant to return after such a disappointing encounter.
In summary, while Serenata has been a favorite for me in the past, a single negative experience can be enough to change that. I hope they take customer service feedback seriously, as it’s a crucial part of the overall experience. For now, I’ll be exploring other venues in DC for my next night out.

Some of the very best cocktails in the city are here consistently.

By far the worst customer service I have ever received at a bar. Wouldn’t provide us water because they are in glasses even though are overpriced margaritas were in the same glasses. And it took them a good 20 minutes to make our drinks that they said were batched. Plenty of other options don’t waste your time or money at this dump.

They refused to serve me tap water in a glass even though our party had been ordering drinks all evening.

Great place to go, as long as you're already friends with everyone else in there, they'll serve you.
Terrible! It took 25 mins to get a drink, an additional 10 after we asked where they were. Worst service ever for $90 of overpriced drinks. One and done!
I am flabbergasted at how rude the staff was, and how poor the service was. The bartender did not take my order and told me to go order at a portion of the bar that had an order here sign, and a place to make your order. After I did that and paid for the drink, the bartender told me that I shouldn’t have done that, and that I was supposed to go through her. There was absolutely no way for me to know that. The bartender would not make the drink I ordered and would not show me that I would get a refund. I will never go there again, which is fine since the drinks were overpriced and there are plenty of other options.

We were looking for a 'night out' but didn't actually want to get dressed up for a club or ya know, go out... this was the PERFECT compromise.
it was a super fun location even if it's not as bustling. Visited on a wet Friday night and it wasn't very packed. Still a very social and fun crowd of people inside at serenata... maybe about 50 people?
they have a few different spaces within the complex - like a mezcal bar - that are open at the same time.
For any hyper sensitive people, it may not be for you, as the music is LOUD and you have to speak loudly over it, but we loved it! it fit our 'club vibe, not at a club' mood that we were in.
Really diverse crowd, people dancing and singing along. cocktails were yum and croquettas were good, but sauce made it better.
definitely recommend serenata and the surrounding market for day trips too.

We ordered some margaritas and they were spicy and unpalatable! We asked them to add some juice to soften them and they said no! In short, 51 dollars wasted…
I stood at the bar for 5-10 minutes the bartender looked right me never acknowledged me worst customer service don’t go there and think you will be served he kept serving a section never said I will be right with you or hold on then I noticed the host walked from around the corner from her date talk saw me standing there never came to say anything night of 8/30/24 staff on dc they need to be trained on customer service

I attended a dance event and had one drink and a bottle of water. The drink was decent and the service was good. However, they charge $5.50 for a small (maybe 12 oz) water bottle. That seems outrageous to me.

Ordered three cocktails. Two were ready within 15 minutes, the last one...I asked the person behind the bar numerous times if it was coming out, and confusingly, they never made it - maybe a miscommunication between the woman behind the register and the bartender making the drinks? She finally refunded me, and I got the third person in our party a beer from a different bar in the food hall.
What we got was fine, though.
