Has potential but needs better signage. Nicely designed. Cocktails and food were good. There was one waiter for the entire restaurant on a Friday night.
I rarely write negative reviews, but this was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had, especially given the price and the occasion. We went for Valentine's Day and were informed only one week prior that there would be a prix fixe menu. However, they never shared what that menu actually was. When we arrived, we found out there were only three starter options, three main options, and no dessert choices at all. For a holiday dinner at this price point, the lack of transparency and flexibility was disappointing from the start. The portions were shockingly small. I left hungry after all three courses. The quality was even worse than the quantity. My main dish was noodles topped with something resembling taco meat, which made no sense conceptually and tasted as strange as it sounds. There was very little flavor in anything we tried. The desserts felt store bought, and the tapioca was literally hard and unpleasant to eat. The service was awkward and extremely slow despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The pacing made no sense. There was a chef visibly present, appearing busy, but every dish came from the back and nothing appeared freshly prepared. It created a very strange and unconvincing experience. The ambiance also left a lot to be desired. The restaurant lacked energy, and the bathrooms were messy and clearly not well maintained, which reflects poorly on overall management and cleanliness standards. I understand this is a newer restaurant, and I hope they improve, but at the moment this was an incredibly disappointing and expensive meal that did not come close to justifying the cost. This was easily the worst high priced dining experience I've had. I would not recommend wasting your time or money here.
The food was amazing 🤤 I ended up getting soju and the skewers . And the smoked watermelon Martini definitely visit it's on the very bottom of the hotel it's like a hidden speakeasy with a karaoke room!
Went here with my partner the massive space was almost completely empty and down a dark alley. We should have realized that as the sign it was. We were asked if we wanted still or sparkling without any obvious option for tap. This mistake of not asking for tap cost us $14 for a bottle I recently discovered costs $3 retail. The food was fine but we were charged $20 for two tiny bao and took forever to get to my table. Would suggest choosing another great option in Union market.
Absolutely fabulous dining experience. We stayed at hotel Nell for a night and came here for dinner. It feels fancy, yet cozy and chill. Excellent and friendly service. We got a few appetizers to split and it was plenty.. got the Cucumber salad, Chicken Lemongrass Gyoza, and the Bahn Mi buns. ALL delicious. Even if you aren’t staying at the hotel I’d urge you to try this place out!
If you're reading this wondering if you should dine here - let me make it easy for you. Run, nay- SPRINT, don't walk, to Singing Tiger the next time you're in Union Market looking for somewhere fun, new, with good vibes, but also with amazing food and cocktails.
Union Market has been lacking, for a long while, in good Asian restaurants, and also I don't think there's a karaoke spot for miles around here. So happy to see new Asian restaurants appearing in UM, including Shia and Chai Pani.
It's a big hard to find, but enter Hotel Nell and take the elevator down to the lower level. Don't try to go through the back door with the sign that says Singing Tiger, I think it's locked. It's a really cool hidden restaurant behind a curtain, that also has 3 karaoke rooms. We ordered the shiso zen and lychee lights cocktails to start. My boyfriend LOVED the Shiso Zen, and said it was his top 3 DC cocktails - it was very very good. I loved mine too! There was a little kerfuffle going on that the staff and management team handled very well, and offered us complimentary sake at the end of our meal - we were very impressed at how it was handled and though the offer wasn't necessary, it speaks a lot of the service here!
For food, we got the Dan Dan noodles, U.M. Greens, Thai crispy wings, and braised pork belly buns. Everything was incredible! I loved the greens salad, whatever vinaigrette they used was so flavorful, on top of greens you normally wouldn't see in a salad but were all my Asian favorites. The Thai Crispy Wings were more similar to the Vietnamese Fish Sauce wings, to which they warned me it may be a bit funky, but luckily I am Vietnamese and accustomed to fish sauce wings - man they made it to taste EXACTLY as how my mom makes it at home! The buns were massive and overflowing with deliciously tender pork belly, and the noodles were nicely spiced and flavorful. Everything came out in a very decent - large portion size for the price too! This meal was a 15/10 - no complaints, and I'm looking forward to returning to try their clay pot, skewers, cocktails, and to belt my heart out in the karaoke rooms.
Singing Tiger is not about flashy gimmicks or over-the-top presentation—it’s about chill vibes and bold, layered flavors with precision and heart. Shoutout to Chef Bernard for mixing L.A. creativity and authentic Asian roots…you can taste the thoughtfulness in every dish.
The sake flight was a highlight—playful but curated, like a guided tour through flavor. The spicy cucumber dish was sharp, refreshing, and balanced in a way that rivals Rose’s Luxury’s version. The dan dan noodles carried heat and depth without overwhelming, while the Korean fried chicken had some lingering flavors that were totally unexpected. The Gyudon bowl was layered and comforting, and the pork belly baos popped with richness and contrasting flavors.
Every plate and drink felt intentional and elevated, yet the vibe is relaxed, almost like you stumbled into a hidden bar run by a Master Chef and his hometown friends.
We left full, happy, and laughing. 10/10, not because it’s trendy, but because it’s genuinely good. We’ll be back for group date night!
Excellent wings, pork belly buns fabulous and sesame noodles great.
Great spot for large and small groups. Hosted a Birthday party here and was a blast!

Space is so beautiful, and cocktails are amazing!
Randomly found this place in Union Market while walking and it was the best idea! From the hostess at the front door to the drinks to the food to our server and to the music (omg a whole vibe!), everything was such a wonderful experience. Can’t wait to come back for the karaoke!
amazing food and customer service! hostess was inviting and convinced us to come into the new establishment and it was a great time. will be coming back soon for their karaoke that’s $40 flat for 2 hours in a private room.
Absolutely amazing place! Love the ambience and ESPECIALLY the service. They have really good prices as well and the music is fire!!
If you’re looking for a place with creativity meets flavor and fun I feel like Singing Tiger is the place to be from the moment I stepped in. I was struck by the vibrant energy of the space blending modern decor with a very welcoming atmosphere from the door to my seat. The menu is a mix of annotative drinks that push the boundaries of what you would normally expect at a cocktail bar/Pan Asian restaurant. My favorite drink was “Smoke on the watermelon” which was full of flavor , had a nice Smokey bubble effect in a FISH GLASS ! I think that maybe the highlight of my night lol … not really a fan of watermelon but the way the drink balanced out with my meal : Steak skewers , Cucumber salad as well as the Thai Chrissy wings were amazing. ! This is a place I would highly recommend to end your night after a long day or even a day where you just want to feel the vibes from the beautiful drinks , different but flavorful food choices and themed karaoke rooms to end it all ! We’ll be back for sure very soon !
