Went with one of the chefs choice assorted nigiri. Hands down best eel I’ve ever eaten. Everything was super fresh, rice was perfect. Going to go back and try the omakase next time.
Incredibly mediocre sushi. Nothing special or outstanding at especially for the price. So many better places in the city with better, modern and tastier sushi options.

Sushi Gakyu is an excellent place for authentic Japanese sushi. The nigiri and sashimi are delicious, and they also offer more American-style maki. Although they were a bit short-staffed, the friendly staff ensured that customers had everything they needed. This intimate restaurant is a favorite among diners, known for its fresh fish, extensive sake list, and amazing service. The menu is reasonably priced, and the sashimi platters and well-prepared sushi rolls are a hit, even with discerning customers from Hawaii. The hot tea and miso soup were a welcome respite after a chilly day.
