The food is immaculate, but the service is even better. I’ve been here more times than I can count & this husband and wife duo is always ready to greet you with a smile. Check them out when you get the chance!
Family friendly soul food restaurant. Always great conversation and the food is really delicious. That is my go to place when I want some GOOD SOUL FOOD!
The food always fresh and good. it's so much you have to take home all you can't eat. the cost you can't beat!
We visited Sweetpea for a late lunch/early dinner
Good food and hospitality. You can never go wrong with your choice of meal or sides.
I love love LOVE this place! The food was amazing and I've tasted some of everything. I personally had the bbq chicken, smothered chicken, smothered turkey wings, and cat fish all with macaroni and cheese, greens, and yams?? . My 1 year old and my husband loves it too but what we love most is their hospitality. I wish I could take them with us to Arizona. They are so incredibly sweet and the next time we're in DC this will be our first stop ❤
You get plenty of good grub for a good price, here; I got the whiting, mac and cheese, greens, green beans, cornbread and banana pudding - all of it was amazing, even a day later after realizing I couldn't possibly eat that much in one sitting. The flavors and textures were all incredibly on point.
I love their food!! I've eaten it almost every day since I've been here
Sweetpea is a family-owned family friendly restaurant near Howard University. The service is amazing. They put their hearts and souls into their food. The whiting, shrimp, wings, and crab cakes are to die for. Everyone needs to come and support this black owned business!!
We were visiting from out of town and ordered right before closing. In predicaments like this, it's usually a risk, however, we were pleasantly surprised. Their hospitality mentally transplanted us into a the home of a beloved family member. The turkey was well seasoned, the fish was made to order, and the desserts were decadent. To top it off, their were condiments plentiful & varied...every detail was considered down to the carryout containers. A memorable experience and a place we will visit in future travels to DC.

Love this Mom and pop shop. As soon as you walk in they make you feel like part if the family. Chicken was amazing and best corn bread I've ever had!
The food was awesome. Great seasoning and the food temperature was extra hot. Loved their fried wings, macaroni and cheese and corn bread. Amazing service as well. Will definitely be back soon!!!
My friend and I stopped in because of the amazing smells wafting from here. The food is hot, fresh, and absolutely amazing. The owners are very friendly and I will recommend this place to everyone!
Very good and well-seasoned food. Only complaint is that they didn't have the Mac and Cheese because it had sold out but it would've been good too.
An absolutely amazing place to eat!! We went and visited the restaurant and honestly it felt like we were at home with a loving aunt and uncle!!! They both have great personalities and the food is well beyond excellent!!! We didn't have to ask for anything because they made sure we had everything we needed! We are definitely planning to visit them again before we leave the city!! Definitely a must go spot!!!
