Best authentic tacos in the city and guac too! I've been coming here for years. Foods great, service is great price range is great! They even hang beautiful art made by local artists in the restaurant.

Best tacos in DC, hands down. Reasonably priced and actually authentic. The guac is really good too. Every time I get a taco elsewhere I'm like hmmm... not as a good as El Chilango. They set the bar high and no place else has yet to pass it. Stop reading Yelp reviews and go get yourself some tacos!!!!

Amazing tacos ?? Came from NY to see Washington DC and we got dinner at this location. It was so good that we had to come back the next day and order 2x more than we did the last night. Tasted Delicious and the staff is wonderful. Would recommend 100%

While visiting DC this weekend, we decided to try this place, and it did not disappoint! We enjoyed it so much, we decided to get dinner from here again the VERY next night! The tacos were delicious, and on the second night, the owner gave us a complimentary guacamole, IT WAS SO GOOD! As a Mexican, I can confidently say that my food was quite AUTHENTIC, and my family and I will def come back when we're in town again!

Hands down best tacos in Logan circle/AdMo area. They have a very small menu but they do well for what they have. I hated Mexican food for most of my adult life - but I finally understood why and what makes good Mexican food after watching food shows and being introduced to good places to eat. Here's why Tacos El Chilango should be your go-to taco place: - Fair price. Three tacos for each order. - Good meat. Meat is often overrated in the U.S. but anyway they do have good meat and marinate it well. - Good vegetables. THIS IS THE KEY that differentiates this place. They know their vegetables - some are juicy, some are tangy and fruity, some are crunchy, some are pickled and sour. Vegetables give a good balance to the flavor profile and adds texture so you can enjoy the meat better. - Salsa: they have a few different kinds of salsas which I haven't figured out what's their system . They incorporate citric from different sources and often keep the texture of the raw materials - so they are fresh, chunky, juicy and make you want to eat more and more. ALERT: one of their salsas was SUPER spicy. I believe it's the habanero salsa. - Good guac: who eats tacos without guac. This place's guac is even better than Jose Andres' restaurant's freshly made guac (they are both good but I would say Tacos El Chilango's is more colorful - like it dances on your tongue) Anyway, this is a long post but getting to find good tacos is hard and when it happened, I came to realize how awfully other places make their food and how a good eatery makes one's day.

The tacos were okay. They were missing a lot of flavor. I was very excited for the al pastor tacos, but it doesn't compare to the ones that I've had in Texas.
Okay so immediately after eating these tacos a couple days ago, I was convinced this was one of the best taco places I'd ever eaten at. Unfortunately, my food poisoning made me think otherwise. My boyfriend and I basically ate all of the same things EXCEPT the salsa Roja that came with the chips. He was fine, so I'm assuming the salsa roja was what didn't sit well with me. The menu warned it was spicy, but I'd never had a problem with spice before. Anyways, this place didn't sit well at all with me. Maybe I'll try again someday, but I will definitely never try that salsa roja again. Yikes. My boyfriend thinks this is his favorite taco place in DC though so they have that going for them.
