I had a very disappointing experience at Talay Thai. The greeter at the front was incredibly rude and unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. It was so off putting that I almost turned around and left immediately. No customer should feel uncomfortable or dismissed just for entering a restaurant.
I only stayed because I was hungry and specifically wanted something healthy to eat. While the food itself was okay, the poor service completely overshadowed the experience. A hostile first interaction sets the tone, and unfortunately, it never recovered.
Customer service matters just as much as the food, and based on this visit, I will not be returning.

I had terrible experience here. It was first time to visit to DC. Lady came to pick up dishes after 10 minutes even though we are about to finish. And there came guy to for bill. What in the world? I didn't want to tip but guy insisted for tips. I had to otherswise he had frown face. It was not even crowded.

Good food but nothing spectacular The atmosphere is quite nice but I didn't like how loud it was, a problem created by the owners because they have a boomer box on the counter blasting music so everyone inside who talked needed to yell. We sat outside despite the chill and rain. They have large parasols

Best Thai food in DC. Ingredients are always so fresh and the staff is so friendly. Pad Thai is the best I’ve ever had. Chicken spicy Eggplant or the curries too are all excellent. Total hidden gem.
