I rarely write reviews on Google but this one I have to! My husband and I were looking for a Thai place for late lunch on New Years and all restaurants were closed (it was almost 3:30). We stumbled upon Thai X-ING (crossing) and headed there around 430 without any reservation (they open at 5pm). Chef and owner Taw noticed us waiting in the cold and was kind enough to let us in early and asked for our dietary preference (we’re vegetarians). That was it! No menu, no fuss - he custom made our menu and started us off with one of the best Thai appetizers we’ve ever had - Tom Kha soup, Papaya salad & Crispy spring rolls! This was followed by Sautéed vegetables with gravy, Pumpkin Curry & Cucumber/Egg dish - all to go with fragrant rice. This was followed by a bowl of Vegetarian Noodles which was also amazing (but we were stuffed at this point so couldn’t fully enjoy it). And then came the MANGO STICKY RICE for dessert which was a perfect end to our hearty meal. The restaurant is inside a “townhouse” and you’re essentially dining in their living/family room turned into a restaurant. It added to the authenticity and experience- Mr Taw was a great host and curated our menu in no-time despite showing up without any reservations. I’d highly recommend you to visit Thai X-ING (do reserve) if you’re looking for authentic Thai food in DC. I can’t wait to go back Thank you Mr Taw.

This place was fantastic. A set menu dinner in Washington, DC for only $30 per person. A total of 8 dishes including a tom yum soup, chicken satay, papaya salad, pumpkin curry, salmon curry, black fungus with ginger, a smoky noodle dish and finally coconut rice with mango.Everything was beautifully presented with lovely balanced flavours. If you like Thai cuisine this is a must try.

Such a gem. The best Thai food, I've ever had! Our prix-fixe menu started with Tom kha soup w/shrimp, chicken satay, papaya salad, the next course include pumpkin curry, salmon, and sauteed vegetables, third course was drunken noodles w/tofu followed by mango sticky rice....simply amazing! ($40 pp, cash only) Will be back very soon.

The food is good, I’ll give them that much. But after waiting 2 1/2 hours, wasn’t worth it. We called at 6pm, they had to call us back to give us the total (idk why). They forgot to call us back, we call back 30min later to them telling us the total and that it will be another 45min, cash only. We walk over with cash after the 45min and wait another 30min for our order which was missing all of our appetizers and 2 of our entrees (it was a large order with several entrees). They were apologetic, but I would prefer clarity and them being straight forward of the wait time.

The food is super good and authentic. The atmosphere is great for dating or private friend gathering. The menu is eight fixed courses, including soups and desserts. The papaya salad may be a bit spicy for people who are not used to spicy food but my SEA friends say that is the normal level lol. The curry pumpkin is my favorite. I am really full by the end of the sixth course and took the rest to go. Remember to bring $35 cash (the meal is $30 + tax/tips).

This is my favorite resturant. While it's cash only ($30 per person, or closer to $40 with tax and tip) and their hours are very limited (seating from 5pm-7:30pm), their food and experience is amazing. Your dietary restrictions are asked as you enter and then food just starts coming once you're seated. The dishes aren't announced, so you don't know what exactly they are, but each dish is phenomenal. And then once you think you're full, they bring out more entrees! Dessert is always a struggle since you're stuffed by the time the mango sticky rice arrives. The dishes are served family style, so not individually per person. That said, we had one vegetarian in a group of carnivores and we were served a mix of meat and vegetarian dishes that satisfied every one. There's also incredibly low lighting with maybe mostly just candles available depending on the room you're in.

I love love this restaurant!!!! ✨❤️ Legit Thai food!!! The owner is the one personally cooking the food. He is from Thailand so the dishes are delicious. On Thursday night they had a 6 course set meal. With each meal brought to is we had a surprise! From crunchy egg rolls to coconut soup, spicy papaya salad! The ending was exactly what we needed: sticky sweet rice with sweet mango!! We will come back just to eat here!!

This place is a wonderful DC institution!! The food is delicious!!! The prix fixe menu was the best deal in the city!! I received 3 small appetizers and FOUR entrees AND a dessert for $30!!! The food was spectacular!!! So fresh and flavorful. (Well, except the chicken skewer. That tasted a bit old.). Service - There is none. The manor woman who comes upstairs to bring you your food is the same person who cooks your food. So if you need a knife or salt and pepper or hot sauce, you need to ask when the food is brought to you. No one will randomly check on you after your food is delivered. Ambiance - There is none. This is a townhouse. It is not fancy or Instagram worthy. If that matters to you, this is not your spot. It is clean. But it is not fancy. Wine - They have it. But there is no wine list. The options are "red" or "white". It's good. But it's not fancy. The focus here is on the food. And the food is amazing!!!

This is such an EXPERIENCE. If you like Thai food you owe it to yourself to go. Fresh, 7 course, fixed menu fares will not disappoint. BYOB with small corking fee. Call ahead preferred. Fun and quirky, affordable and delicious.

Some of the best Thai food I’ve had. Would definitely dine in with the pre fixe menu. Reasonably priced and lots of food. Great dining experience!

BEST THAI EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD. First of all, each day has a different themed menu. I've had it on both vegetarian day and meat day. Tbh, I preferred the vegetarian although LOVED both. The pumpkin curry is one of the craziest things I've ever had. Just dissolves in your mouth. So much flavor. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK.

The people here are very nice. It looks like they have a party room upstairs but not much other seating. I came for a concert at 9:30 Club tonight and it is raining with line stretched around the block. I didn't want to soak my yeezies so I popped in here and they let me sit in their entry waiting area and order some wine. I also ordered chicken satay which was great. I'd be soaking in the streets without these miracle workers.
