Atmosphere was fantastic; the place was beautiful, but the food portions were tiny, and there was nothing memorable about any of the food we ordered other than the sticker shock of the prices. I'm happy to pay a premium for premium food, but this was all show and very little substance, and very small portions. Don't waste your time here as there are so many other better places in DC where you can easily do better, get better food and at much lower prices while still dining upscale.

Food is incredible!! First Class!!
Service didn’t exceed or meet expectations, if you force me (auto 22% gratuity added for a party of four) to pay service gratuity, it better be first class!! It wasn’t.
I don’t understand, when you (the server) clearly knew who is eating what for an entree, why aren’t they served at the same time, Why would I go to dinner with family, only to not eat my entree on my own, one vegetable was completely forgotten? I understand tapas style for everything else, but entrees should be served together.
My seat faced your restrooms, so I got to see every patron that walked to the restroom from the lobby or the restaurant! Not my idea of excellence!!
Such a shame, as the food is incredible!!

I'm a mixologist who loves good food and cocktails. I traveled three hours to visit this bar and a few others in the Washington area. This place looks spectacular and has a great menu of drinks and food, but the service was terrible. And for the record, I work in the restaurant and bar industry, so for me, the experience has to be truly awful to leave a bad review. 😕 The bartenders and manager whispered in a classist manner, and I wasn't even dressed inappropriately. The experience felt incredibly racist, especially since I do the same job as them and just wanted to have a good experience. This place was created by an excellent chef, but the front-line staff had nothing to do with the establishment. I expected much more, as it was my top choice in the Washington, D.C. area.
Always a pleasure dining with Jose! I came twice during this trip once for Thanksgiving with the tasting menu and once for a weekday dinner. As always the food is creative, delicious, beautiful and fun, as is the cocktails. I didn’t love the ambiance as it was in a large building that felt cold and I kept my jacket on for dinner but it was still beautiful as per usual with the bazaar. I was a little said the air Philly cheesesteaks didn’t have as melty warm cheese as before but most of the dishes were amazing!

The food and the vibe is the best. For service, everyone should be treated the same no matter how many courses they order. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a good service this time.

Let's start with the negatives..... as soon as I can find one. The location and the setting are breathtaking and relaxing. The menu has something for every taste and is outstanding. Try the octopus dish!! The star of the evening? The service. Adam, Enrique and Manuel really made us feel welcome and at home. They truly embody the essence of what Chef José Andres continually expresses through his philanthropy. Connecting people and creating beautiful memories through this shared experience. Will definitely be back!

Restaurantji Recommends
This was our first trip to The BaZaar by José Andrés but not the first José Andrés restaurant experience we’ve enjoyed.
Kudos to the chef who made incredible food throughout the night and worked with all of our table’s complicated allergy needs and dietary restrictions. Everything was fabulous. Our server Chacha was amazing and very knowledgeable, they made it an experience we won’t forget. Our sommelier Nicholas was also very knowledgeable and helped us pick out fantastic wines that paired with all of our meals and taste buds.
This restaurant is definitely deserving of a 5 star review across the board (and probably a Michelin star or two as well).
We will definitely be back!

The Waldorf Astoria is a beautiful place. The atmosphere has a level elegance that can't be matched anywhere else in DC. The Bazaar brings an elevated dining experience to an already exquisite environment. All this comes with a cost.

The service at The Bazaar was exceptional and deserves to be recognized. We were seated at 6:20 p.m. and informed our server that we were on a tight timeline due to a 7:00 p.m. ballet performance. The team was immediately attentive, highly professional, and impressively efficient, ensuring that our meal was served and concluded by 6:50 p.m. without ever feeling rushed. The staff demonstrated a level of consideration, coordination, and polish that reflects very well on the front-of-house operation. Unfortunately, the food itself did not meet the standard typically associated with the José Andrés restaurant group. The entrées were served cold and lacked depth of flavor, and the accompanying side dishes were underwhelming and poorly executed. While the dishes may have been acceptable in a casual, home-cooked context, they fell well short of the quality, creativity, and refinement expected at a restaurant of this caliber. Having dined at José Andrés restaurants across the United States, the Middle East, and Asia, this experience stood out as the first time the culinary execution failed to align with the brand's otherwise consistently high standards and with reasonable expectations for The Bazaar. The contrast between the exemplary service and the disappointing food was striking, and it is my hope that this feedback is taken constructively.
