Cozy spot where you can grab a coffee away from the craziness of the city

Cool little neighborhood hangout. I had a double shot espresso of the house blend and it was delicious, rich and velvety with a slight orange peel finish.

So I dropped by The Coffee Bar kinda on accident while killing time before a meeting, but wow — this place lowkey saved my morning. I got a cortado (barista’s rec) and it was hands down one of the smoothest I’ve had in a while. Not too hot, not bitter, just balanced and legit comforting. Grabbed a morning bun too — buttery, cinnamon-y, all the good stuff. It’s a small space but doesn’t feel cramped, and everyone working there had this calm, focused vibe like they actually liked their job. Music was chill, not overpowering. Restroom was clean (finally a soap dispenser that works lol). Genuinely felt good just existing in that space.

Pastries are very moist and delicious and so is the coffee. Good place for remote work

It’s a good, local coffee spot. While the customers can be kind of insufferable in that truly DC way, the staff is amazing. They’re always super helpful and very chill. I got a decent matcha when I was hungover that definitely helped. They’re quick to make drinks and the pastries look good as well.
Be warned: Still does not have wi-fi. Not a good option for workday change of scenery.
The best and most charming coffee shop in the district.

This spot is a neighborhood gem and one of the few coffee shops in DC that don’t have a corporate vibe to them. I love to come here when I have some reading to do as the seating situation is more preferable to that than laptop work.
Unfortunately, I probably will not be coming back as I was rudely scolded by an employee who (while I was obviously on a call) for eating a small side of fruit I had brought with me on my remote workday. Completely understand not allowing outside food, but 1) there is no signage anywhere that says that and another employee had in fact provided me with the fork for said fruit, 2) they offer VERY limited (were completely out of when I was there) food/pastry options (nothing diet friendly), and 3) the employee was extremely rude instead of just politely informing me of their policy.

They will refuse to serve iced espresso and they even have it on their blackboard menu so that you won't bother asking for. But apparently serving iced americanos or even COKE WITH ESPRESSO SHOTS (yes, you read this correctly) does not downgrade the quality of their product. What a joke...

This place is crowded with local people which means it’s a good place to visit!!! The coffee beans are separated for black coffee and milk coffee. Muffins are really good.

I called and specifically ask if your place is currently packed and the person other the phone told me your are not. I didn't find ANY available chair or even a tiny spot to place myself.

Recently moved to this neighborhood. The website indicated the Coffee Bar was dog friendly (outside) so I walked over to over an ice coffee and continue our walk. I was told by patrons sitting outside that there is a window for orders only to find out this was pick-up only for online orders. The staff was not pleased that I still wished to order a drink and smugly repeated (3 times) that this is a pick-up window only, but would take my order this time like she was doing me a favor -- this is no way to win over new customers let alone retain the ones you have. I walked away with no coffee and a completely negative experience caused by your staff. There were other, more polite and customer appreciative, ways to handle this situation.
For what appears to be a mom & pop coffee house, this is a terrible business approach. I can buy coffee all around this neighborhood and because of this interaction none of it will be from you.
