The menu has plenty of options, went for breakfast. Had the Coupe Royale; French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and a hash brown. The toast was little soggy, eggs and bacon were good not crispy but not chewy, and the hash brown was crispy. Service was little slow but seemed busy. Like the architecture to the place very nice.

The food is great, staff is friendly, place is clean. The Coupe is the kinda place that’s 98% great every time. The food (and staff, mostly) will be the good part… but the 2% will be stuff like getting sat by the bathroom traffic or ordering coffee that doesn’t come out until halfway through your meal or no animal crackers for the coffee or your server disappears when you’re ready to cash out or they bring everyone’s food except one person’s, etc etc. Great breakfast, though. Short ribs, not so much.

The bourbon bacon chicken and waffles were delicious!
The chicken was moist and tasty, but the grits not so good.
Also, you pay for coffee refills ( crazy right)

If I wasn't metting someone here, I would have left. I came in to a sign that says "Please wait to be seated." So I did. No one acknowledged me. Two other people came in a few minutes after me and they were greeted and taken to a seat. I was still not acknowledge. Another man came in after me and waited as well. Someone cleaning the table came over, looked at me, spoke to the guy standing in front of me, and asked if he had been helped and then left. Mind you I've been waiting for at least 10min. It's sad that we are on 2024 and this behavior still exists, not that it'll disappear when you have establishments and people like this.

This is my new favorite spot. The food is good and the service is great. The prices are also reasonable. Highly recommend.

Miscommunication between the waitress...when I asked if something could be substituted for fries, she didn't mention I had to pay for the item she suggested. Innocent mistake, great service otherwise.

Would have to rate this place 9/10 everything is good, I saw a few flies but that's expected in a city area

On a really hot day, I wished the air conditioning was a bit stronger.
Kid, friendly, there is an area to change babies.
The mushroom rye sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. You do not even miss the meat. They caramelized onion were on POINT.
Kid-friendliness: Diaper changing table.

Entitled staff who thinks and act like customers are there to bother them. I ordered food at the counter and waited outside with my dog as they were not serving outside tables. The restaurant was empty, my food arrived and set at their counter for 10+ minutes and NO ONE HAD THE DECENCY to say the food was ready. They knew I had a dog and was literally waiting to queue to come in and pick it up. They sure charged 7 dollars for a sparkling water and included a glass for me to drink OUTSIDE.

As a neighborhood local and a remote worker, the back breakfast bar is an invaluable space! Food is great, coffee is excellent, prices are fantastic...Jeremy and Martin are wonderful! If you're just visiting DC, go for a meal! If you're local, make it your spot!

My server was nice, but she never checked on me. The only time I saw her was when i ordered and when I was done with my food when she came to refill my water, which hadn’t been refilled at all during me sitting there. I was in the mood for a second drink, but by the time i saw her, I was no longer interested in staying and just wanted to pay my tab. Again, she was friendly and very nice, but I spent more time wondering if she come check on me and wondering if my water would ever get refilled than really enjoying my time.

I usually have a good time here, but this time around something weird happened. I went to use the bathroom after eating and I’m pretty sure that one of the waitresses, a Latina lady with reddish-brownish hair tied in a bun, followed me to the bathroom and waited outside the door. When I came out she looked at me then left. I’ve done this before here and didn’t have this happen, but I can’t help but think she did that because I’m black and hadn’t paid yet at that point. I’ve gone to the bathroom before without paying + I left my stuff there to indicate that I was coming back. I hope I’m wrong, but it wasn’t a good look.
