5 star dive bar! Outstanding representation of a true hole in the wall dive bar. Eclectic decor and inviting staff. Diverse patrons made me feel right at home like I’ve been coming here for years. There is a kitchen upstairs that I did not try but heard good things about. The kind of place you wanna hang out and have another drink!

My go to bar for years, legendary bartenders (with seperate drinking personas and nicknames ;) and cheap drinks. Literally the only good bar in DC.... Stop wasting time at other places.

It’s a local dive bar with a diverse crowd. Top 3 DC bar… best part is you can bring your own food in and chill… good for networking and dates

When I first moved to the area I was searching for a dive bar that I felt comfy in to grab a drink in after work. How lucky I was to stumble into The Pug. And how much more lucky I was to be there on a Thursday with bartender Alexis. She takes care and makes a night at the Pug even more worth it. The drinks are cheap, the decor is kitschy, the regulars are friendly, and the service (everyone that works there) is hilarious and kind. A true dive. Now a staple for me in the neighborhood! I def recommend it to anyone looking for a warm place to chill out.

One of the only true dive bars I've been at in DC and one of the only places open until late on a weekday.

Multiple men have been “banned” for being extremely creepy with women, but the bartenders let them come in anyway. This used to be such a great neighborhood spot, but keeping women—and all people—safe should be a priority at any bar, and it simply isn’t at the pug.
No frills, fantastic neighborhood dive bar with cold drinks, good company, fun decor and it has wine that’s not from a box. The staff are always great and there’s someone there willing to spark a convo.
