I stopped by The Roost last Tuesday for lunch, and I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and flavorful their farm-to-table dishes were. The roasted chicken was perfectly cooked, and the sides were a nice complement.

Servers are tending to a wide variety of tables from different store fronts, so be patient, they're very busy. Food is great from all of the selections, but my favorite was the Sushi. I will say, for my experience, a lot of families were present and allowed their kids to run around the entire restaurant. Not the fault of the establishment persay, but it definitely effected out time.

Taco night in America.

The Roost was really exciting when it first opened — great food, nice variety. Now, it’s just OK (if that). I mainly order vegetarian selections, which are limited. There are superior vegetarian choices in Barracks Row/Eastern Market. Safeway is even better—or at least equally serviceable. Maybe the Roost is great if your preference is meat/chicken/fish. But it feels like they’ve stopped trying. It’s disappointing.

The Roost is such a fun and inviting spot. I love how many great food and drink options there are in one place—it makes it easy to try something new every time. The atmosphere is relaxed and lively, and the space feels bright and welcoming. The staff at each counter was friendly and helpful, which made the visit even better. It’s a great place to meet friends, grab a bite, and hang out. I’d definitely come back.

The Roost is one of my favorite places in DC for a laid-back meal and good conversation. The space is bright, open, and lively without being too loud — perfect for catching up with friends or settling in for a casual date.

There are lots of food options to choose from, and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. Best of all, prices are very reasonable for DC, so you can sample different vendors without feeling like you’re splurging. Drinks are great too, and there’s plenty of seating.

Whether you’re stopping in for a quick bite or planning to hang out for a while, The Roost delivers consistently good food, friendly vibes, and great value. Highly recommend!

I love food halls, and The Roost is one of the best! We were able to order from several different stalls and have everything delivered right to our table — such a fun and seamless experience. The variety was fantastic, and every dish we tried was delicious. Everyone in our group left completely satisfied. Can’t wait to come back!

The Roost is a one stop food and drink gem located an area with a shortage of night life. It closes early, but one can get a meal and good booze before 10 pm. A little on the pricey side but when there is no competition you charge what you want.

I live around the corner so come here often to feel that my review is valid. the concept of the roost is ideal and Capitol Hill doesn’t have too many options when it comes to food. But the customer service is lacking. Multiple times now I have come during afternoon/ evening where my food is over cooked and super dry. I had a spritz drink that was nothing but syrup at the bottom. the coffee is also inconsistent. For the prices they charge, consistency matters idc. also, the employees rarely check on you they walk around “looking busy” during slow peak times yet ignoring you. There is almost so much staff they seem like they have nothing to do but huddle around and chitchat including the managers. To me it’s not worth the money.
