So the high tea I remembered from a couple years ago was much more hearty. Larger REAL sandwiches with filling like curry chicken salad, egg salad, etc. Service was fine. We had to ask for a menu as we were still hungry. We were brought two menus, lunch & dinner but was told the kitchen was closed as we were in between the serving times. They were kind enough to make us a bowl of soup. So overall it was a below average experience and I will not return, unless things change...
We had afternoon tea, expertly served by Jamal. The offerings were generous and the value substantial, given the cost of other offerings in the MD-DC-VA area. We stop in whenever we visit Washington DC.
Quaint old-school hotel restaurant, stately with parquet wood floors, service attendants in tuxedo bow ties, brass hardware, ... just a lovely, bespoke environment. I had a Tavern salad--crisp, seasonal, nicely balance of greens (butter lettuce), seasonal berries and citrus. Portions are appropriately sized, not hugely generous, but not skimpy either. My colleague got the chicken dinner plate and was pleased with the flavor and moistness. Thanks!
