Absolutely the best ramen I've ever had! I had the chicken ramen as well as steamed chicken dumplings. Absolutely delicious! The staff were very welcoming and professional! I will definitely dining again when i return to DC!
The automatic 18% tip and 3.5% credit card fee is unwarranted considering the terrible service and bland ramen

I want to start by saying the food was fantastic! The Bao Buns, Curry Ramen, and Dan Dan Noodles were all packed with flavor and I would happily order again. This being said, the service was shockingly snarky and rude. The host wasn’t friendly at all. It’s really a shame, because the food was so great! Hopefully it was a one time experience, but it definitely was off putting.

Ramen is just too good. Quality service and top tier food has set the bar high. Love, love, love.

Quite an unwelcoming environment with an unwelcoming hostess. We were warned our time was limited from the get go and sent to our seats with limited interaction. Once we realized the seats weren't bigger people friendly combined with the unpleasantness we experienced on entry we left. We were charged $20/person for a poor experience. That net loss will be worth something if I save you from this experience. Go elsewhere (the dumpling house down the road had nicer staff, ample seating).

To date Toki Underground has been the best ramen I’ve had in the DC region. I’ve gone several times. The noodles, broth, and topping are excellent. The drinks are fun. The atmosphere is crowded but has charm. The loss of a stars comes from a literal cockroach crawling on the bar while I was eating and the manager being annoyed at me being grossed out by having to kill it with my napkin. Apparently cockroaches come inside when it’s cold and should be expected here. Fair warning.

Eat here if you like cuddling up shoulder to shoulder with strangers over a bowl of ramen, but don't eat here if you're a married adult, have a family, set personal boundaries, or want to have a private conversation. I would say this place is probably pretty bad place to take a date as well, unless you guys are trying to rub shoulders. The seating arrangements are terrible and are not befitting of a restaurant, which nobody seems to talk about in the reviews. I guess it's mostly kiddos and single people writing the reviews. The reason the seating is so bad is because of the they only have cramped shoulder to shoulder seating on stools facing the wall and your table is like 1 foot long. The back of your head is facing the server when they come by, so you have to do this weird twist to order from the server. Since your whole torso is blocking your table, servers can't tell if you need service. If you want service, you'll have to maintain this awkward twist whilst disturbing the person next to you. This place is alright for kiddies and single people though. Honestly, don't know how this place is going to stay in business once DC stops the free DC streetcar operations, which is what most of this business's clientele probably used since they don't have parking... I guess people can still take the bus to this place, but that's not 'trendy', which is the vibe this restaurant is going for.

The place is super cool! I tried the classic Toki and it was delicious. We also ordered some sake, which was great. I definitely recommend this place—just make sure to book a reservation

Excellent Ramen and beautiful sake choices. If you like Indian Maggi, their katsu ramen is a must try!

The food was great and the service was really professional. Among the appetizers, we actually loved the pickle plate the most. The flavors were very nuanced and were well paired with all of the other dishes. We had both the mushroom and curry ramen bowls - both were great.

Restaurantji Recommends
The steam bun with fried chicken and the root beer chicken wings are both delicious. The fried chicken curry ramen and the numbing garlic ramen are both okay. The pork insides the numbing garlic ramen is delicious tho. The vibe is great. There are not many seats, and there are also no tables, so it’s more suitable for single customers or couples vs. a 3+ people gathering. Overall, it’s a nice experience.

Placed an order for pickup, waited for 40 min at the restaurant just for them to say they never got our order.
One of my absolute go to spots and a hidden gem! Also 10/10 recommend for InKind fans!

Essentially unmarked on the second floor above a dive bar named "The Pug". Equally elevated ramen and other noodle dishes. Friendly and efficient service, generous portions, fair prices.
