Excellent food and atmosphere. The bartenders were also super chill and make really creative drinks. Recommend the honey wine!
The food and cocktails were amazing. We have been in the DMV for 4 years and it’s the best Ethiopian I have eaten here (out of about 20 restaurants). The servings were generous and the seasonings were spot on. Try The Builder cocktail for a nice twist on Honey Mead! My daughter found it on a top 100 restaurants in DC and we totally know why. Highly recommend!!

Tsehay Ethiopian Restaurant And Bar offers an authentic atmosphere with passionate staff. The cozy ambiance fosters relationships between employees and regulars. The exotic ambiance transports guests with warm colors, traditional decor, and inviting atmosphere. The food, especially the "Memo special," "Yebelay Superior," Tibs, yellow chicken stew, and spicy lentils, is a delight with impressive presentation and generous portions full of rich, flavorful spices. The injera is soft and perfect, and no utensils are needed for a unique dining experience. Desserts are awesome. The exposed brick of the old brownstone gives the restaurant a homey, rustic feel.
The restaurant is known for its fantastic dinner and epic service. Customers highly recommend the Ye Belay (sampler) which features beef, lamb, kitfa, and stews, all served on and with aybe. The staff are phenomenal, very helpful and attentive, making guests feel like family. The food is excellently prepared and served, with generous portions at an affordable price, making it one of the hidden treasures in the area. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing, with the hospitality and authentic flavors exceeding all expectations.
