Delicious food: the middle eastern spices and high quality food is one of a kind for this area. Added to that the nice people (the owners actually wait on you) and the fun dinning room all make for a pleasureable and unique dining experience.

Ali Baba has amazing food! love the Salmon and Kabobs! They participated in the Newark Arts Alliance Taste of Dessert competition again this year, and their Baklava took 1st place - the best!

Ali Baba has been a STAPLE of my Newark restaurant rotation since 2009, and for good reason: the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is super comfortable and fun. Eating here is quite the experience, and even if you're just dipping your toe into Middle Eastern cuisine, you're going to have a nice time.

Everything about this place is amazing. The service was great too, and yet they were so busy things took a little longer than I would have liked, but for good reason and we'll worth the wait. I highly recommend.

Good food and even better customer service. You’ll feel at home for sure. The meat was very tender too😋 (the reason I’m giving 4 stars is because my rice was kinda on the cold side.)

It was my son's birthday and my parents live about 2.5 hours away so we needed somewhere to meet in the middle for a birthday dinner. Also, for complicated reasons my parents won't eat where pork is served, are vegetarians, and my husband is allergic to most vegetarian friendly proteins except beans and some seeds (luckily he loves fish). We've navigated all of this before with varying degrees of success but usually something isn't quite right: good food but uncomfortable, closes too early, bad ambiance, or bad service. There have also been places with bad food but a good ambiance and all permutations in between. When I saw there was a bar and hookah offered I was a little concerned about my small child and WASPY parents. The night we went it was pouring and we were tired and I was very prepared for things not to go very well. Happily, after walking through the loud smoking area and past the bar I was greeted by a well lit, sumptuously decorated room. Beautiful inlaid tables from Morocco, gorgeous tapestries, and cozy comfortable couch style seating and hand painted wall decor. It was an amazing scene to walk into after being cold, hungry, tired and anxious. It really was like stepping into another world - something straight out of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. 🙂
We ordered tea and soup for everyone and it was delicious. We sat comfortably and drank tea and soup and ate french fries (the nicely battered kind) as appetizers in a beautiful and comfortable room with friendly and accommodating wait staff - I really can't say enough good things about our experience. Some rowdy, obnoxious boys were behaving badly and even that didn't ruin our mood because everything else was so wonderful. Best of all, they were open until midnight so we had plenty of time to eat, open presents, sing, play a game and spend time together in this gorgeous, comfortable, otherworldly setting.

One warning: the food is good (we eat a lot of middle eastern food for the reasons explained as above) but the portions of the main courses are HUGE, really, really HUGE. We took our leftovers home and we will get at least one more meal and a snack and we only ordered two main courses, falafel and a salad for four adults and one child.

We will *definitely* be back.

My company and I came in on a really rainy night and our server was nice enough to bring us towels to dry off a bit. Aside from our amazing server, the food was also spectacular! We will most definitely be going back!
