Bongou Reviews
I got the fried chicken with two sides of collards and mac n cheese. I’m always skeptical getting fried chicken concepts my family is from the south, but Bongou’s held up very well to the food back home!
The chicken was juicy and well seasoned, the collards were also made to perfection — soft but not mushy. The service there is friendly and makes you feel at home. Will definitely be back!

Food took longer than expected to prepare but tasted great none the less
The fried turkey will likely be the best meal they have available. Absolutely tender and juicy turkey fried to perfection and very flavorful. The plantains were amazing with the pikliz. Chicken wings are jumbo but fried good with nice seasoning.

Bongou is a Haitian restaurant that offers a variety of authentic and flavorful dishes, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The menu features fried chicken, fried turkey, ox tails, patties, griot, plantains, mac & cheese, and more. The fried chicken is often praised for being juicy, crispy, and well seasoned, holding up to traditional standards. The fried turkey is highlighted as tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Other favorites include ox tails, which are tender and flavorful, and the plantains, which are crispy and delicious. The mac & cheese is considered classic and satisfying, while the passionfruit juice is highly recommended for its freshness.
Many reviews emphasize the friendly and welcoming service, with staff making guests feel at home. The interior is described as attractive and calm, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The restaurant is appreciated not only for its food but also for its authenticity, as it is run by Haitian cooks and owners, ensuring genuine Haitian flavors. However, some customers note that the food is more Americanized in flavor and that certain traditional Haitian seasonings, like clove in djon-djon black rice, are missing. Portion sizes have been a concern, with some feeling that they are too small for the price, especially regarding rice servings. Service speed can also be slow at times due to high demand and the restaurant's current organization.
Overall, Bongou is celebrated for its delicious, authentic Haitian dishes, friendly service, and welcoming environment, making it a recommended spot for those seeking flavorful soul food with Haitian roots.
