I went to this restaurant to get the BEEF ramen on the menu it states what’s in the ramen is “flavorful broth” but since it is beef I assumed the broth was BEEF because it is BEEF RAMEN. I am Muslim. Presentation was amazing but as I proceeded to taste my broth soon as the spoon touched my lip Ya Allah knew it was pork something in my BEEF ramen. I instantly felt trifling and began reciting, I sent my beef ramen with pork broth back and my server asked if I would like to order something eles on the menu; as I was skimming over the menu my server said to me “are you going to order something eles I have to get back to work” so I told her just come back then. I ended up getting the California roll. So not only was I poisoned she also was rushing me with a bad attitude after she poisoned me… I went to this restaurant 12/27/2024

Sushi was just ok. Lacked flavor and did not offer a brown rice option.

One of my favorite places for a quick and affordable good meal. i’m picky when it comes to sushi but this place is amazing. The ramen is so flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. It’s never super busy or loud which is nice. overall a great experience. need to go more often
We love the ramen at Oishii. Fave is the mayu ramen with black garlic oil. Broth is super tasty, flavorful and always consistent. Really appreciate that the chef adds bok choy and the well seasoned hard boiled egg. Ramen noodles are cooked well and very delicious. Service is spectacular too. Keep up the great work! Very clean restaurant!!

Oishii Sugi is an excellent choice for sushi lovers looking to order in Newark. This restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring an impressive array of sushi options at very reasonable prices, making it a standout among local dining spots.
While the overall quality of the sushi is commendable, there were moments when the freshness could have been improved. For groups, the sushi love boat for two is a delightful selection that combines a variety of rolls, while their sampler platters allow for tastings of different flavors, making it perfect for sharing.
Additionally, don’t miss out on their miso soup, which adds a comforting touch to the meal. It’s simply delicious and complements the sushi nicely. Overall, Oishii Sugi delivers a satisfying sushi experience that is both enjoyable and affordable.
Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian rolls.

Walking into Oishii I was hit with the unmistakeable smell of old fryer oil. The burnt, fishy smell permeated the restaurant and lingered on my clothes long after leaving. Our family briefly considered leaving there and then, but we were craving sushi and ramen and decided not to let that dissuade us. Perhaps we should have.
The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable and quick with our orders. This review has little to do with the service which was excellent.
That said, the food was inconsistent at best. I tried the Takoyaki, several sushi rolls, and the tonkotsu ramen.
The Takoyaki wasn't the best I've ever had but it was good.
The sushi was pretty standard. It was fine, but personally I don't think I have the most refined taste for it. I wouldn't insult a sushi expert by pretending I knew everything about it, but it was nothing to write home about, but also not offensive in any way.
I tend to judge a ramen place by the Tonkotsu and this restaurant had maybe the second worst Tonkotsu I've had. See my other Ramen reviews for examples, good and bad.
There was a distinctly fish, almost low-tide smell and flavor to the tonkotsu broth. Don't get me wrong, I love fish, even some of the more "fishy" divisive flavors like canned tuna and smoked white fish or salmon. What I experienced was not fishy-ness, it was most likely some undesirable ingredient that was off, or some misguided addition that ruined the flavor and smell. Not only did it smell bad, but afterwards I had some gastrointestinal distress and I have a famously strong stomach (except where dairy is concerned but this was not like what I've experienced from that). I tried to narrow it down to one ingredient, but it seemed to actually be the broth itself. Honestly, I was unable to finish it. I can make better ramen at home. Even the chashu was undercooked. The fat was not caramelized enough nor was the pork belly tender enough. it tasted more boiled than roasted and there was no flavor permeating through it, only the most surface-level flavor indicating perhaps too short of a stewing time.
I was really hoping to be able to give this place a good review because it comes so highly recommended, but unfortunately it was just not a great experience overall.
Dietary restrictions: The staff was knowledgeable about ingredients and allergens.

Photos outside looked appetizing so we went straight in. Sure glad we did!
Service is quick and friendly, we were greeted with smiles and seated right away.
Spacious and clean inside. Ordered the Ma-Yu Ramen and Unagi Don which comes with miso soup.
Both delicious and beautifully presented. Chashu are thick and savory, the broth is perfect and not too salty. The care and attention to making these fine dishes are obvious.
We love it and highly recommend. Instant favorite!!

Pretty good sushi and decent prices too. Everything was really tasty, and they had a good selection of maki rolls for about $6-$7 as well. The spicy yellowtail roll was particularly tasty, as well as the special roll that I ordered. Service was very fast too.

We recently ate at Oishii sushi and Ramen and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant was clean. The staff was so kind and the atmosphere was relaxed and calming. we ordered the sushi combo for two. It was the perfect amount for us and both of us are big eaters includes a variety of Nigiri, and maki rolls. Our food was very fresh and you’ll look forward to the salmon tuna yellowtail, and you might even like to try a dragon roll a rainbow roll. Everything was wonderful.
this is one of our cheat meal go to places! Clean food and wonderful people.
