Everything is amazing- empanadas, guacamole, chips, street corn, enchiladas, tacos- the staff and owner- I could go on and on :)
I was excited to see what the next generation to occupy the old Stoney's British Pub on Concord Pike would be. Maiz does not disappoint! From the moment you walk in the door you can really see the difference. It is relaxed, current, and yet vibrant atmosphere. Very well done! I started with the street corn appetizer. While this place doesn’t have yet have their liquor license, I wouldn’t hesitate to try this place out. You can get liquor anywhere, the food you are going to get here you are not going to get just anywhere. I had the guacamole with the house-made chips and a veggie quesadilla. Both where excellent. Now I just need to find more people to go eat with so I can go back more often.

Maiz is a new restaurant on Concord Pike in Wilmington, DE, in the old Stoney's British Pub space. It has a relaxed, current, and vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant is cozy and quiet. The food is authentic Mexican and outstanding. The salsa tasting is a recommended appetizer, with chips and 5 different salsa. The guacamole with house-made chips and a veggie quesadilla are both excellent. The street corn appetizer is a great choice, with lime crema sauce and cotilla cheese. The Salmón a la Veracruzana is a pan seared salmon filet with traditional Vera Cruz sauce, slightly spicy and perfectly paired. Entrees are served with a small plate of rice and beans, and the Salmon dish comes with two slices of Garlic Toast. The chicken quesadillas on handmade corn tortillas are the best tortillas, and the beef enchiladas with mole sauce are lean, tender, and delicious. The fajitas are meaty and tasty, with whole beans on the side. The ranchero burrito is delicious. The carne en su jugo and the salmon are both delicious and super flavorful. The server is super amable and attentive. Maiz is highly recommended for good, authentic Mexican food in the North Wilmington area.
