We had dinner at Cafe Scalessa last night. It was very good. I highly recommend the eggplant stack appetizer. It’s delicious! Service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed our meal and brought our leftovers home as the portions were hearty!

Food is fantastic and service outstanding! I can't wait to visit again.
Love the small restaurant feel. Gets on a personal level. Very polite and knowledgeable staff. The food was some of the best Italian I've ever had.

I was in town for business and ChatGPT told me this was the best Italian restaurant in Wilmington. And guess what, ChatGPT is correct. Tons of traditional Italian favorites. The service is good, cool little building in a nice neighborhood, and the food is excellent. Huge portions are, as well.

Wonderful place! We went there to celebrate with 8 of us and they were wonderfully accommodating. The food was fantastic and we will definitely go back. Everything we had was tasty and fresh made.
Some of the best Italian Ive had in a good while. Calamari was cooked perfectly and the seafood pescatore was incredible! Everything is homemade, the sauces/gravies were fantastic as were the homemade gnocchi and pasta.

Real food from your Nonnas kitchen. The eggplant meatballs are outrageous. The gnocchi, delicious.

I didn't want to post a review but I am doing it so the owner can see. I dined here at 5/27 during lunch.
Got the caprese sandwich and a tap water. The caprese sandwich flavor was 'mid' at best especially for $19. Also a cup of tap water was $2.25.
I get the inflation but $2.25 for a cup of tap water? Are we in LA?
Also a note to the chef: if you're going to put balsamic glaze on a caprese, don't douse the entire surrounding plate with it as a presentation. It serves no purpose and you have no space to put anything it just gets sticky everywhere.
