I’ve been coming to Cara’s smoothie bar in Deerfield Beach since 2008, and it’s honestly one of my favorite places in town. The smoothies are always fresh, delicious, and made with real ingredients—but what really makes this place special is Cara herself.

She’s always there with a smile, and over the years her shop has turned into more than just a spot to grab something healthy. It’s a place to hang out, talk, laugh, and connect. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, Cara treats everyone like family. You’ll usually find a few locals hanging out, chatting at the bar—it’s like a little community gathering spot.

What really stood out today though, was the level of care from the staff. One of the owners noticed I was pregnant and went out of her way to bring a fan over to my table. She then brought me their special lactation cookies, made with herbs known to support breastfeeding moms. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare, and she truly made me feel genuinely taken care of.

“Fresh Kitchen got the food right! It’s fresh, flavorful and tastes homemade- this is rare for mass-prepped food. And the people are nice. However, I go to Bolay once per week and FK once per quarter. The portions are just so skimpy, I just don’t ever feel I got $20+ worth of food. Today, the server literally shook off the tongs until there was a pinch of spinach left to put in my container as a base and same sentiment for the kale, sprinkled the chickpeas dispensing less than half the scooper and put the rest back. Then, shook a few pieces of sweet potato off the top of the scooper…and put the rest back. It was like she was afraid to pour a scoop. I don’t eat poultry or red meat so I have to eat more food to get enough calories per meal. Fk meals are a snack before dinner. I would totally eat there at least once per week if I wouldn’t leave hungry. Another win for them…they shine like a diamond in the snack department. Also rare in the industry is a decent lower sugar vegan snack! The vegan chocolate chip cookies are ridiculously amazing! I buy 3 packs at a time every time. Sometimes I just go there for them alone!“

“We are a family of Brazilian soccer fanatics who follow every match of our national team in the World Cup. It just so happened that an important game was scheduled on my wife's birthday. So I was given the difficult task of finding a nice place for a family of 7 to dine out, celebrate her birthday, and watch the Brazilian game at the same time. American Social was the perfect solution. Our server Payton did an amazing job, making us feel special even when the house was full of loud soccer fans. Our table was perfectly placed where we could watch the game, and the food was delicious. She even brought a courtesy dessert for my wife so we could sing Happy Birthday. “The food was really good, and everything else was nice overall. However, the customer service could definitely be better. The cashier didn’t acknowledge me when I walked up and finished her conversation before assisting me. She also looked very young, so I’m not sure if that played a role, but either way, I don’t think that’s great customer service especially in a restaurant industry.. Overall, good food, but the service could use some improvement.“
